Dress: BCBG. Clutch: Henri Bendel. Shoes: Nine West. Necklace: BCBG. Bracelets: Forever 21, H&M bangles. Sunglasses: Chanel.
I usually cinch the waist of this dress with a bold gold belt, but instead decided to leave it flowy and add a statement necklace. This made me a little nervous as I hoped it wouldn’t look like I was wearing a tent. By the end of the day, I felt confident with my choice, and will definitely wear it this way again. Are you apprehensive when wearing tent or cape dresses, for fear of adding too much bulk?

Jenny, you look so adorable. Earthy tone colours look so good on you and perfectly match your skintone and hair colour. Love your choice with the dress and the necklace, what a beautiful statement piece. Great modern twist with the animal printed clutch. Perfect outfit, I would def wear it myself
Hope you had a great time In NYC?

Thanks so much Ani! NYC was amazing…such a wonderful city!
On another note Jenny sorry totally forgot. What kind of photo programm do you use? like the effect of make the background kinda blurry? Thank you
I use a camera setting to make the background blurry. I use a 50mm lens, and set the aperature to the lowest level, I believe it’s 1.8. Sometimes I can get the effect I want, and other times it doesn’t seem to work out as well. It definitely works better for the closer up shots, and for shots where the background is further away from me. Thanks Ani!
That necklace is amazing and I love the color scheme!

What a great look, the necklace is a masterpiece on its own! Normally I would add a belt to similarly proportioned dresses, too, but this one looks great the way you are wearing it.
Thanks Natalia! I normally add a belt too, but decided to change it up a bit.
I love this all loose and flowy- it looks crisp and cool for this hot summer! You were spot on (hahaha) with the gold accessories and the clutch
Awww, thanks Katie!
Hi Jenny…this look is so classy and perfect for a day lunch.
I only wonder how it would look with a skinny belt?
Did you try to cinch it ever….I think it would look very nice….:)

Lol!!! I just read what you wrote….disregard my question above
Ha ha, thanks so much Martha!
Love this neutral look and the incorporation of leopard!

I really like this look, and surprisingly love the flow
I would usually reach for the belt as well, but it’s nice to see some inspiration to try something different.

Me too, I usually wear a belt every day!
This is such an awesome dress! I love how the breezy shape gives a feminine touch to the safari look. So cute! And I do worry at times about leaving loose things flowy and unbelted, but usually the risk pays off.

I found your blog through a comment you left on an IFB post (about sell-outs). Glad to see you’re not only insightful, but also have great style. Loving that necklace!!!
That is so kind…thank you so much Ashley!
Love these neutrals on you Jenny! They work really well with your hair color. I promise you don’t look like a tent but I know how you feel. Some dresses with this shape totally work and others it’s just too much material.

Jenny I really love your style and choice in clothing. I swear to you that if I could have any blogger’s closet, it would certainly be yours! I honestly especially love this particular post because I JUST purchased a tent dress knowing that I’d belt it but you gave me the confidence to try wearing it all billow-y!

Wow Jenny this out if truly divine and a classic in my book! I love it! Also that necklace and the leopard clutch add so much character and I think it’s the perfect accessories! I came across your response on this article at IFB about bloggers who “sell out,” (lol) and I can’t agree more. I think it’s perfectly fine to have c/o, gifts, etc but if your entire outfit is consist of c/o’s than I have to question your authenticity and integrity. I also unfollowed someone’s blog I once liked. Oh well.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I completely agree with you. Authenticity and integrity are so important to me as a blogger, and honestly, I really only want to read blogs that share the same values. I think you can easily tell who is authentic and who isn’t. Thank you again for your comment!
Sorry I meant to say “this outfit is truly divine.” My long fingernails are just not cooperating today!
Ha ha, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to send a “correction comment”!
You look fab!

Lovely outfit. I’m specially in love with your BCBG necklace.
Thank you so much, Brasilian Babe!
Love the necklace!!!
Thanks, it’s definitely one of my favourites!
I bought a dress with a similar shape last week and didn’t wear it with a belt either – it was the most comfortable thing ever! Except my sister told me it looked like a maternity dress, and a coworker suggested I belt it. LOL I don’t really care though – I liked how it looked – effortless and comfortable! I probably still wouldn’t belt it. I think it looks great on you without a belt! As long as you like it, who cares, right?
Completely agree, thanks Jess! You are right, we should be making ourselves happy, and I shouldn’t worry so much about what others think of my wardrobe!!
The FIRST thing I thought when I saw this outfit was “I am so glad she didn’t belt this dress.” Seriously. I love it unbelted and think it looks amazing this way. Perfect styling, as usual girl!
