Dress: H&M (new). Skirt: Topshop. Hat: H&M. Both Shoes: Jimmy Choo. Handbag: Gucci. Sunglasses: Chanel.
I’m definitely a dress girl. I just love the femininity and ease. If a dress can be worn in multiple ways, say as a top or skirt, I’m sold. So I guess you could have predicted that I would fall in love with this beautiful H&M shift dress. I not only love the fabulous floral print and baseball sleeves, but I was also attracted to its surprising versatility. Do you try to get the most from your dresses by wearing them as tops or skirts?

Thank you so much Annie!
What a gorgeous dress! Some dresses I do, but I find others flare out too much to look right when another skirt is layered over it. Clearly this is a sign I should buy more shift dresses, right?
Thanks Krista! Yes, totally agree, it depends on the style of dress!
LOVE this look! Such a perfect, versatile dress! Am meeting a friend for lunch at Yonge and Bloor today so will have to pop over to H&M to pick this one up! It’s great for transitioning into fall!

Thanks Katherine! It’s funny, I find myself looking for versatility in dresses now so much more than in the past. Putting photos of yourself online everyday really makes you think about the versatility of pieces before you buy them.

I love that you did this Jenny! Wearing my dresses as a shirt or a skirt is something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I have yet to do it, but you’ve just given me some more style inspiration. Both of these looks are fabulous!

Oh thank you so much Yi-chia!
I always WANT to wear a dress as a top or skirt, but then I chicken out because if it’s a dress I really like, it makes me sad to cover up half of it. Am I weird? (Don’t answer that.)
Sarah’s Real Life
P.S. Are you going to do my outfit challenge?? Pretty please?
Ha ha, thanks so much Sarah! I totally understand where you’re coming from!
I do the same thing! It gets you twice as much wear out of the same piece. I especially do this when traveling! It takes the right dress to wear as a skirt, but when it works it looks great.

Yes, what a great idea for travelling! Thanks so much Brenna!
What a fantastic idea! I need to try it asap.
Ha ha, yes, try it soon! You’ll be hooked!
That’s such an amazing dress! And ohhh definitely, versatility is important to me. Whenever I decide to purchase something, I think about if it can be paired with many types of other clothing in my wardrobe.
I totally think about that before I buy something, especially now with this blog. I don’t have unlimited funds so it’s definitely important to get extra mileage out of pieces.
perfection. You’re a natural, rub some of that off on me!

First of all, gorgeous dress! I love it. It’s amazing and I love how you remixed it.
To answer your question, I do try to remix my dresses and wear it as a top or as a skirt. I’ve just started doing it a lot more now that I’m on a shopping ban. LOL.
Ha ha, yes, it’s a great way to save money and double the size of your wardrobe! Thanks Trinnah!
You are such a dress and pump girls! I wish I could wear pumps lol my toes are skinny and long so they always get sqeehed in the closed toe shoes!
Ha ha, yes, I’m definitely a dress and pumps girl!
Yeah, its a great way to instantly double your wardrobe buy turning dresses into tops. Although I haven’t really tried it yet since I’m worried that it might make me look a little puffy?? Eh, whatever!
I’ll try it out
xoxo
Jennifer
I think the trick is finding dresses that are made of a thin enough material to not add bulk. Plus, I think you might be surprised how great it looks on you once you give it a shot!
thats so ingenious how you tucked it into a skirt- such a different look and i just LOVE it!
Awww, thank you so much!
I adore it paired with the skirt! How versatile of a piece, what a winner! You look great!
