Matchy-Matchy

Jacket: Vero Moda. Dress: Jacob. Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs. Belt: H&M. Shoes: Nine West. Rings: Coach, Ardene. Bracelets: Kate Spade, BCBG, J.Crew, Forever 21. Watch: Michael Kors. Sunglasses: Chanel.

I love to play with contrasting colours, but there is something about a matchy-matchy outfit that always appeals to me.  If this is considered a fashion mistake, then it’s a faux pas that I will happily commit over and over again. Do you ever wear matchy-matchy outfits?

Thanks Sheree! I think this is more of a trumpet hem, but I’m not totally sure. There is no defined waist seam until you hit the frill at the bottom, so I’m guessing it’s too low to be a drop waist, but I’m really not sure. :)

LOVE IT JENNY!! Yes I do wear matchy-matchy looks. I believe that in a world where mismatched looks are so “à la mode” from time to time is good to have a look back and realise that is nothing wrong about wearing a matchy-matchy look…

I used to dress much more matchy-matchy until somehow, someday, I realized that everyone was considering it a faux pas! I’m definitely not over it yet, and sometimes matchy-matchy just feels right! Like you did in this outfit, which is totally gorgeous! Especially matching the cobalt blue of your dress with that belt over your coat! So chic!

I make an effort not to be too matchy . Sometimes I fail though. When I dress in vintage I actually think it looks better to be extra matchy.
The blue really pops here and the nude shoes make your legs look extra long.

Jenny, as long as the matchy matchy look is so chic and representable (nothing else could be expected from a girl with an impeccable style) than who really cares what the norm says? I think this is one of your features what makes you so super sweet and stand out from others, having your own way of approaching and looking at things and to adhere to that. You need to feel comfortable my dear and you should because you pullled of another nice eyecatching look today. Love how the cobalt blue sticks out with those neutrals. Also super cute pointed heels again, I would have bought the same pair ;-) . Such a pitty that we can only be blogger friends/sisters, would be so much fun to be that in real life. so glad our ways got crossed :-) Have a lovely evening my dear. Unfortunately I am so sick :-(

Jenny i LOVE the color of this dress. And is that a drop waist? I would love to see what it looks like sans jacket. I am so into drop waists right now but not sure how they would look on someone with a tummy :x LOL
And if matchy matchy is a fashion no-no, I am guilty as well ;)

    • Posted October 1, 2012 at 7:18 pm by Jenny | Permalink

Ha ha, thanks Lauren! I think this is more of a trumpet hem then a drop waist. It actually has no waist seem until it hits the flare at the bottom. I’ve tried on a few drop waists but have yet to buy one. I find they usually make me look shorter than I am, and also the drop usually hits just above the fattest part of my thigh, so it’s really unflattering. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect one.
