My Man and I are still rookies when it comes to photography. Other than knowing how to adjust the brightness, we just point and shoot, and hope the camera is smart enough to take a great photo. Well, that method didn’t really work for us when taking these particular photos and shooting in very low light for the first time. These were the only two non-blurry pictures in the bunch. I think it’s about time that we learn how to properly use our camera. Happy Friday everyone!

Ha ha, thanks so much Patricia!
I had to do this as well. I wanted to learn focusing and everything so I looked up classes online but they were all so expensive. Turns out, our library has TONS of classes and it’s $10 to sign up for the series. So I signed up for their photography class and am learning. And this is just to maximize the use of your basic digital cameras, nothing fancy. I’ll try to share any tips I get!
The outfit is gorgeous! Very glam-date night?

That is so great Ashleigh! I definitely need a professional to show me how to use all the features. I hope you learn a lot!! Ha ha, nope not a date night, it’s just an outfit I wore to work this week!
Well I still love the photos! This actually happens to us as well. Ours come out all grainy in the evening..let me know if you figure it out

I think your photography looks great! What kind of a camera are you using? I learned best when reading the manual!
Loving the hi-low skirt, still a huge fan of those!
xx Lynzy
http://www.sparklingfootsteps.com
Aww, thanks Lynzy! I’m using a Canon T2i Rebel. In general, it’s pretty easy to use. I guess I just need to learn a little more when it comes to night shots. I’ll definitely flip through the manual!
That blue colour is gorgeous.
Next week the light situation will be worse because I think we turn back the clocks this weekend.

I know!! I’m not looking forward to that! The clocks go back on November 3rd/4th, so at least I have one more week of good light!
Great look Jenny – that is still one of my favourite bags of your gorgeous collection! I hear you on the photos, these short days make it very difficult to get things done!

Love coblat blue on you! At least you have a camera Jenny. I am using my iPhone to take photos – they made uploading so easy but picture quality is not there. I am hoping to pick one up for the holidays.

Ha ha, thanks Emily!!
Hey, aren’t we still all learning? Mr. UC just knows how to point and shoot too. But now since he thinks he is getting good at it, he’s researching new fancy cameras! These pictures actually came out better than you think! Way to go!
Clare
Understated Classics
Aww, thanks so much Clare! Ooohh, getting a new camera is always exciting!
I think your pictures always look great! It’s taken me forever to “properly” learn how to use my camera. And I’m still learning!
-Alyssa
The Glossy Life
Thank you so very much Alyssa! It definitely takes time to learn! We’ve been doing this for almost 6 months now, and we are still making rookie mistakes!
How funny. Aren’t we all “rookies” at something?
For whatever it’s worth… lovely ensemble!
http://theleatherskirt.blogspot.com/
Aww, thanks so much Jordan!
So true!
with the days getting shorter and our fall setting in, the lighting is definitely not helping with pictures. in this situation, you should try a tripod, and that will help with the blurriness, given that you have to change the camera settings to let in more light, it is more sensitive to movement. the tripod should help with that. xox
i love this outfit – the colours are gorgeous!

Thanks so much Anmari!!
Haha I completely understand! Sometimes I only like one picture out of a whole bunch too! Imagine trying to take “presentable” pictures in motion plus the rain and wind here! Triple threats! Sometimes I feel lucky to be able to present with even decent looking photos for my blog lol
Ha ha, thanks so much! I agree, I live right near the lake in Toronto, and it’s super windy right near my apartment. It’s such a challenge!!
Nice oufit Jenny. I have the same dress. It’s very lovely
Thanks so much Sophie! It is a great dress!

OK so I kind of know how you feel, except I know how to use my camera but my husband doesn’t! I wish I could take pictures of myself, since I know what I want and how to take them, but I just started doing outfit pictures, so we are going to have some lessons and look at ideas this weekend…
Also, love the look!
Ha ha, I feel the same way!! I don’t know a lot about cameras but I know more than my Man! Whenever I try to tell him what setting to use, he just says “yeah yeah, don’t worry, I got it”, only he DOESN’T GOT IT!
Oh well, at least he tries!
The best thing I can suggest for using your camera is just trial and error! My boyfriend recently got a new fancy camera and he just tries setting after setting til he finds something that works. It just takes a little patience from you! I, on the other hand, couldn’t work that camera to save my life. Good luck with figuring it out!
Beautiful outfit too, love the pop of blue!
Ha ha, thanks Miranda! I agree, I don’t have the patience either!
And you still manage to look gorgeous!!
Happy Weekend!
Ha ha, thanks Whitley! Have a great weekend too!
Well, obviously you still take great photos. Love the hi-lo skirt iwith this otherwise business-y outfit.
Thanks so much Kristian, and thanks for visiting!

Aww, thanks Liv!
The light bokeh in the background looks very nice! Do you use a dslr? You might need a longer shutter speed to capture more light, but then you need a steadier hand or tripod. Still learning the photography ropes, myself!
Thanks for the tips Mary Ann! Yes, I’m using a DSLR. I think you are totally right!
