Smurf

Coat: J.Crew. Striped Top: J.Crew. Blouse: J.Crew Blythe Blouse. Jeans: H&M. Socks: Club Monaco. Shoes: Nine West. Necklace: BCBG. Ring: Stella & Dot. Handbag: Gucci. Sunglasses: Chanel.

As a child, I use to LOVE the Smurfs!  I watched that cartoon all of the time, and Smurfette was obviously my favourite.  I had nearly the entire collection of little collectible figurines (that I’m now kicking myself for not keeping), and would have so much fun playing with with my little brother.  So, you can understand why my reaction to Justin calling me a Smurf in this outfit would be both positive and negative.  He so gently stated that my blue socks made it appear like I had blue skin and therefore looked like I should be strolling through the Smurf Village instead of heading to the office.  I would have been much more annoyed than I was if I could have just stopped myself from laughing so much.  For the record, I liked this outfit, and not one other person at work that day called me a Smurf. I know this look isn’t for everyone but fashion is about having fun and taking risks, so that’s exactly what I did while staying true to my own style.

I have mixed feelings about the blue socks, but if anyone can rock it, you can! Maybe it’s actually your love of Smurfs that subconsciously inspired you to wear them :)

Ha ha, you might be right. Yeah, I wasn’t totally sure about the blue socks either but I thought fashion is about fun and taking risks so I just went with it. I actually liked wearing them so in the end I was happy with it. :) Thanks Sarah!

I love that you push yourself to take risks. It’s so easy to be boring. I’d rather be remembered than forgotten amongst the crowd. Those socks definately make an impression!

You are so much more stylish than Smurfette :) .

I tired to wear some really bright red tights the other day against a black dress with some black heels and the contrast was so great that I thought it be too loud for my conservative office. So I switched them to black pattern tights.

I bought some tights that are the same color as our socks and I am still so scared to use them.

    You ROCK in this outfit!

Ha ha ha, thanks Alice! I had on bright purple tights the other day and took them off too just because I thought I couldn’t pull them off. Maybe I’ll try again. I also bought tights the same colour as the bright cobalt blue. I’m going to try to wear them this week. :)
