The super sweet Amy (from Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins) and I partnered today to showcase one of Spring 2013′s hottest trends: bold stripes.  When I heard this was a “trend” for Spring, my first thought was that stripes are always in style, sort of like animal prints and denim.  Maybe I’m a little slow on the uptake, but I finally realized that “trendy” just means that designers and retailers have decided to focus on it this particular season and that it will be readily available in stores.  Zara has definitely committed to both bold stripes and black & white this Spring.  They have so much of it currently in store, including this great skirt I picked up a few weeks ago.  I thought it would be fun to pair this bold print with a matching top for a look that almost appears like a dress.

Coincidentally, Amy and I went for similar looks but she paired her fabulous striped shorts with a bright pop of one of my favourite colours, cobalt blue.  Please visit Amy’s blog, Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins, to check out more photos and details of her pretty look.

Kudos on styling the two pieces to look like one. On another note, I thought the picture of Amy was a throwback picture of you with longer and lighter hair to show how you wore a piece in the past. I guess I need to go get my eyes checked and get some new Chanel glasses while I’m at it. Ha.

I totally thought that was a dress… looks great, Jenny! I feel like black & white stripes have a tendency to look a little jailbird or referee-style if they’re vertical but these thick stripes don’t look that way at all.
