Smurf

Coat: J.Crew. Striped Top: J.Crew. Blouse: J.Crew Blythe Blouse. Jeans: H&M. Socks: Club Monaco. Shoes: Nine West. Necklace: BCBG. Ring: Stella & Dot. Handbag: Gucci. Sunglasses: Chanel.
As a child, I use to LOVE the Smurfs! I watched that cartoon all of the time, and Smurfette was obviously my favourite. I had nearly the entire collection of little collectible figurines (that I’m now kicking myself for not keeping), and would have so much fun playing with with my little brother. So, you can understand why my reaction to Justin calling me a Smurf in this outfit would be both positive and negative. He so gently stated that my blue socks made it appear like I had blue skin and therefore looked like I should be strolling through the Smurf Village instead of heading to the office. I would have been much more annoyed than I was if I could have just stopped myself from laughing so much. For the record, I liked this outfit, and not one other person at work that day called me a Smurf. I know this look isn’t for everyone but fashion is about having fun and taking risks, so that’s exactly what I did while staying true to my own style.

Clutch Inspiration

Shirt: J.Crew Blythe Blouse. Jacket: Zara (old). Skirt: H&M. Shoes: Boutique 9. Clutch: Zara (old). Ring: Stella & Dot. Necklace: unknown. Sunglasses: Chanel.
The weather in Toronto last weekend was gorgeous! I took full advantage of the record temps by wearing this Spring-like outfit to a baby shower. I really wanted to carry this sparkly sequin clutch so I actually selected my outfit with my purse as the starting point. I often do that with shoes too. I’ll style an entire outfit around an accessory instead of the other way around. Do you ever use your accessories as your inspiration/starting piece for an outfit?

Vibrant

Coat: J.Crew. Belt: Anthropologie. Rings: Coach, Kate Spade. Shoes: Boutique 9. Jeans: H&M. Sunglasses: Chanel.
I had my eye on this gorgeous J.Crew Symphony Coat for a few months, and just recently picked it up on super sale. This vibrant fuchsia stunner is one of those pieces that makes me feel like a million bucks. It doesn’t get much more feminine than this. The beauty of the colour was really hard to capture in photos, and the coat is actually a much more vibrant and deep pink in person. I love this coat so much that I just ordered it in Emerald Green as well. What items in your wardrobe make you feel extra special?

Glitter

Nail Polish: Butter “Rosie Lee”. Coat: J.Crew. Top and Collar: H&M. Skirt: Costa Blanca. Shoes: Nine West. Gloves: via Macy’s. Handbag: Gucci. Sunglasses: Chanel.
I haven’t worn glittery nail polish in years, but my heart melted when I saw this beautiful rosey-pink shade from Butter. Glitter nail polish is just so fun to wear, but I quickly remembered how not fun it is to remove. Wow, that stuff really sticks to your nails! Two days later, I still had traces of glitter on my hands. But I’d happily go through that hassle every time just to feel as girly and pretty as I did when wearing this nail polish.
