Is it totally annoying if I say I felt like a million bucks in this outfit?  I usually don’t feel my “prettiest” in casual outfits or jeans, but there is something about this outfit that made me feel like I was invincible.  And that “something” was my coat.  I often get very passionate about my clothing purchases, and my thought is that if I don’t absolutely love something, then why would I buy it?  Well, this coat goes beyond “love” for me.  This might just be one of my all-time favourite pieces in my wardrobe. . . ever!  It’s actually too pretty for me to tuck away in my closet, and I’ve been hanging it on the outside of my closet door for the last month so I can stare at it every time I walk in there.

I purchased this floral stunner in January and was waiting for just the right moment to wear it.    Well, what better moment than Toronto’s World Mastercard Fashion Week!  And, what a good decision that was.  The day I wore this also marked the first time that anyone has ever asked to take a photo of my outfit.  Fun, right?!  My look was actually featured on the website of my favourite city magazine, Toronto Life!  So exciting!  Ummm, but please ignore the painfully awkward look on my face. . . you can tell I was completely uncomfortable yet overly thrilled during this moment.  Thank you, Toronto Life!

I wore this outfit to Day 4 of World Mastercard Fashion Week.  My favourite collection of that night was the Vawk Fall 2013 show.  Vawk is the luxurious ready-to-wear line by Sonny Fong, who was the winner of  Project Runway Canada Season 2.  The collection, titled “Nordic Fauna,” was inspired by Scandinavian minimalist design as well as classic winter hunting gear.  The coat below, with the sheer pleated side, was simply stunning. . . definitely a piece I would love to own.  Click here to see the entire Vawk Fall 2013 collection.

Stars and Stripes

Hat: ASOS. Coat: Zara. Shirt: Zara (love this starry version). Jeans: H&M. Shoes: J.Crew (old). Handbag: Balenciaga. Ring: Stella & Dot. Sunglasses: Chanel.

Happy Monday everyone!  Today is a pretty exciting day for me. . .tonight I will be attending my very first fashion show, ever.  Toronto’s World Mastercard Fashion Week begins today and runs until Friday.  I’ve dreamed of attending a fashion show for as long as I can remember, and I’m giddy with anticipation for this evening.  I’ll be attending several spectacular shows over the next week including Joe Fresh, Mackage, Rudsak, Vawk, Lucian Matis and Pink Tartan.

Just as exciting as attending the shows, I’m also looking forward to meeting several other Toronto Fashion Bloggers for the first time in person.  Connecting with other women who love fashion as much as I do was one of the main reasons I started blogging.  I moved to Toronto six years ago this month, and have met many wonderful people since, but none that shared the same interest and passion for fashion as I do.  I have a feeling that I will finally feel like I’m in my element this week, with fabulous women who, like me, live for fashion.  Now, the most important question is, “What in the world am I going to wear?”.

Coat: J.Crew. Fur Collar: ASOS (similar). Dress: H&M. Boots: Aldo. Clutch: Balenciaga. Belt: H&M. Ring: Stella & Dot. Sunglasses: Chanel.

This is one of those outfits that I easily took from day to night with a quick switcheroo.  I swapped out black tights and suede pumps with these thigh high boots, and switched from my large black Balenciaga City bag to this smaller Balenciaga Envelope clutch.  Boom…I was ready to leave work and head out for some yummy food and drinks with my girlfriends.

Also, every item I’m wearing (except for my ring) is at least a year and a half old, so this was the perfect outfit to link up with the super sweet Ani at her blog Fleurani.  She’s hosting a link up for outfits featuring “oldie by goodie” pieces from our wardrobes.  Stop by and check it out, or better yet, feel free to link up with her too!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

The Perfect Wave

Coat: Rudsak (old, last seen here). Hat: ASOS (love this similar one with jewels). Top: Zara (similar). Jeans: H&M. Shoes: Nine West (Canadian link) (U.S. link). Handbag: Balenciaga. Sunglasses: ZeroUV. Lipstick: MAC “Media”.

I think I’ve done it…after more than 10 years of trying, I’ve finally figured out how to achieve the perfect “not-too-perfect, rolled-out-of-bed” wavy hair.  Now, this might sound like no big deal to those of you blessed with gorgeous tresses, but I’m not exaggerating when I say that I have the worst hair ever.  It’s thick, poufy, frizzy, dry, prone to split ends and has just enough wave that I need to straighten it everyday, but not enough wave for it to look presentable…arghh!  I’ve either straightened or curled my hair EVERY single time I’ve washed it for the last 15 years…yes, 15 years!

I’ve always used an inexpensive hair dryer, and I’ve been using the same brand of flat iron (to both straighten and curl my hair) for many, many years.  I honestly never thought that the brand or quality of the styling tools I used would make a noticeable difference in the appearance of my hair.  When the lovely people over at José Eber offered to send me a few of their products to try, I figured this was the perfect opportunity to test my theory.

They sent me 3 styling tools, the World’s Fastest Flat Iron, the Trio Clipless Curling Iron and the Infrared Blow Dryer.  I’ve been using all 3 products for the last couple of months and I can honestly say that they have made a huge difference in the appearance and healthiness of my hair.  I never realized the effect that high quality styling tools could have on my hair.  I’m almost at the point where I can blow dry my hair and I actually don’t have to straighten it before I leave the house!  That is shocking for me!

Tomorrow, I have an exciting little something for one of you lucky ladies.  The wonderful people at José Eber have offered to giveaway one of their styling tools, and the best part is you get to choose which item you want to win. . .either the World’s Fastest Flat Iron, the Trio Clipless Curling Iron or the Infrared Blow Dryer!  I will also be posting a little more detail about my experiences with each product, along with a few beginners tips that I’ve learned.  Be sure to check back in tomorrow for this great giveaway!

*Products were provided by José Eber, however this is not a sponsored post.  I chose to write about these products because I truly love them.
