Monochromatic dressing (that is, one colour from head to toe) is a huge trend for Spring 2013.  I am particularly fond of this trend because it’s really easy to pull a look together, and I always feel a little extra stylish when wearing one single colour (see my past cobalt blue outfit here).  I’m thrilled to be partnering with 3 fabulous ladies to show you how each of us has taken the runway trend and worn it in real life.

Amy from Coffee Beans and Bobby Pins is lovely in white, Sara from Glitter and Grace is chic in black, and Star from Beauty and Bows is pretty in pink.  I felt fresh and ready for Spring in my full-on mint look.  Will you be sporting the monochromatic trend this season?

Two weekends ago, I had the pleasure of attending the North American Fur & Fashion Exposition in Montreal (NAFFEM) with my girl Christina from The Style Mogul.  We were honoured to be asked by the Fur Council of Canada to be 2 of 9 bloggers to participate in the NAFFEM Style Lab.  I will share some more details and photos of the event soon, but in the mean time, here is what I wore to the expo.

Deciding what to wear was more challenging than I anticipated.  I had to choose an outfit that was pretty and somewhat professional, yet showed my personal style.  I needed layers in case I was too warm or too hot, and I definitely needed comfy shoes since I would be on my feet all day.  This was the outfit I finally decided upon.  Christina snapped these photos for me as we were leaving the trade show.  Thanks girl!

Toronto’s fashion elite were out in full force last week for the World Mastercard Fashion Week.  This was my first time attending Fashion Week, and what a week it was.  I will admit that it was not as glamorous as I had imagined, however, I felt like I was in fashion heaven the entire time.  It was so thrilling to be around so many stylish people who share my same love for fashion.  The most exciting part was getting to meet and spend time with many other Toronto bloggers…women I now feel like I can call my friends.

This winter white ensemble was what I wore to the first day of Fashion Week.  Oh, it was freezing outside, but I was determined to not wear tights with any of my outfits.  If there is a time to suffer for fashion, I would say that Fashion Week is definitely that time.

Over the next week, I will share with you what I wore each day for the shows, and also some of my favourite pieces from the most impressive collections on the runways.  My favourite show in terms of wear-ability was definitely Pink Tartan.  Created by Kimberly Newport-Mimran, (wife to Joe Mimran, founder of Club Monaco and Joe Fresh), this collection was full of retro lady-like luxury.  I can honestly say that I would wear almost every piece that came down the runway.  My favourite look was the first piece that kicked off the show. . .the gorgeous floral print swing coat shown below.  I could see myself wearing this coat year round and feeling uber-glamorous no matter what I was wearing it with.

B&W

Coat: Zara. Skirt: H&M. Turtleneck: Club Monaco. Faux Fur Stole: H&M. Boots: Nine West. Rings: Stella & Dot, BCBG, H&M. Sunglasses: Chanel.

Today I’m wearing 2 new pieces in my wardrobe that I’m madly in love with…this Zara coat and H&M skirt.  This white coat with faux leather sleeves has been hanging in my closet for a few weeks just begging to be worn.  It’s fairly lightweight however the turtleneck and fur scarf added enough layers to keep me warm.

H&M came out with this skirt in yellow last season, and I stalked my local H&M every week waiting for it to hit stores.  I don’t think we ever got the yellow version here in Toronto (although I could be wrong), but as soon as I saw the fabulous Nancy from Adore to Adorn wearing the new version in eggshell, I rushed to H&M that night after work to pick it up.  Thankfully, it was in stock.  I just love the texture and fullness of this skirt.

Those of you reading along on Instagram or Facebook may have already seen that I posted the exciting news that one of my outfits was featured in the “reader looks” section of the March issue of InStyle Magazine.  I sincerely thank you for all of the sweet compliments and congratulations.  It’s pretty fun to see my photo in print.  I must say that this would have never happend without the sweet encouragement of two amazing woman.  Several months back, the super sweet Whitley from The Queen City Style had her look featured in InStyle, and I thought it was just the coolest thing.  Then, after I wore the outfit that was featured, the always chic Sheree from It’s Not That Deep told me that I should submit my photo to InStyle, so I thought, “hey, why not?”.  One of Sheree’s gorgeous looks was also featured last month in InStyle!  Thank you ladies!
