Sometimes a girl just wants to wear a loose shirt.  Sometimes a girl doesn’t want to walk around all day sucking in her stomach.  Sometimes a girl wants to eat a delicious, big dinner without looking like she’s pregnant afterwards in her fitted top.  But this girl has a hard time finding non-fitted clothing that doesn’t make her look huge because this girl is short and curvy.  Enter this girl’s hero shirt . . . the Saint James for Coach drawstring top.  This girl has finally found that perfect, cute-yet-casual, eat-all-you-want, wear-when-you’re-feeling-not-skinny, fitted-but-not-fitted shirt.

P.S. I’ve linked up with Jane from Toronto Shopoholic for her #waywewear series.  This month it’s all about print mixing!

Skirt: Tristan. Jacket: H&M (similar). Top: Jacob. Clutch: Marc Jacobs. Shoes: Boutique 9 (similar). Sunglasses: Gucci. Watch: Michael Kors. Bracelets: BCBG, J.Crew, Forever 21. Rings: Coach.

Some of you may have seen on Instagram that I purchased this gorgeous abstract print skirt at the Tristan store opening event I attended a few weeks ago.  I immediately fell in love with the beautiful jewel tone colours, and could picture wearing this skirt all year round.  As a fabulous bonus, this skirt is made in Canada, along with many other of the pieces from Tristan.  Sadly, it’s rare now a days that brands produce merchandise in our own country, so it’s wonderful to be able to support our economy.

P.S. Keeping with the Canadian theme of this post, all of you lovely Canadian ladies can click here to enter to win a Clarisonic Mia2 Cleansing System.  I am madly in love with my Clarisonic Mia2 and highly recommend it!

Toronto Fashion Week: Flower Power and Vawk

Coat: ASOS. Blouse: Zara (love this similar blouse). Jeans: H&M. Shoes: Boutique 9. Handbag: Balenciaga. Watch: Michael Kors. Rings: Coach, Kate Spade. Sunglasses: Chanel.

Is it totally annoying if I say I felt like a million bucks in this outfit?  I usually don’t feel my “prettiest” in casual outfits or jeans, but there is something about this outfit that made me feel like I was invincible.  And that “something” was my coat.  I often get very passionate about my clothing purchases, and my thought is that if I don’t absolutely love something, then why would I buy it?  Well, this coat goes beyond “love” for me.  This might just be one of my all-time favourite pieces in my wardrobe. . . ever!  It’s actually too pretty for me to tuck away in my closet, and I’ve been hanging it on the outside of my closet door for the last month so I can stare at it every time I walk in there.

I purchased this floral stunner in January and was waiting for just the right moment to wear it.    Well, what better moment than Toronto’s World Mastercard Fashion Week!  And, what a good decision that was.  The day I wore this also marked the first time that anyone has ever asked to take a photo of my outfit.  Fun, right?!  My look was actually featured on the website of my favourite city magazine, Toronto Life!  So exciting!  Ummm, but please ignore the painfully awkward look on my face. . . you can tell I was completely uncomfortable yet overly thrilled during this moment.  Thank you, Toronto Life!

I wore this outfit to Day 4 of World Mastercard Fashion Week.  My favourite collection of that night was the Vawk Fall 2013 show.  Vawk is the luxurious ready-to-wear line by Sonny Fong, who was the winner of  Project Runway Canada Season 2.  The collection, titled “Nordic Fauna,” was inspired by Scandinavian minimalist design as well as classic winter hunting gear.  The coat below, with the sheer pleated side, was simply stunning. . . definitely a piece I would love to own.  Click here to see the entire Vawk Fall 2013 collection.
