Funny story about when I purchased this Chanel blue beauty . . . if you follow on Instagram, you may have seen that I purchased it was when I was in Chicago last month during Easter. I usually only splurge on designer bags when I’m celebrating a milestone in my life, for example my very first bonus, a promotion at work, or my first birthday in seven years without a boyfriend (my 26th b-day, also a Chanel). Well, I threw my rules out the window when I saw this vibrant cobalt blue bag at the Chanel store. I saw it sitting on the shelf, and I fell instantly in love. I tried it on, but left the store empty handed because I didn’t want to make an impulse purchase on something so expensive. I usually put a lot of time and thought into my big purchases.
One hour later, I found myself walking back into the Chanel store. I couldn’t stop thinking about this bag! The sales associate greeted me by my name, and I felt a little embarrassed because I was hoping she wouldn’t remember me. Another woman was trying on my bag, so I patiently waited my turn. She was debating between the cobalt colour and the same bag in white. I tried on the bag but this time I filled it with all of my purse contents to make sure it would fit my essentials. However, once again, I left the store empty handed.
Another hour later, my thoughts consumed with this handbag, I was walking into the Chanel store for the 3rd time that day! I smiled when I saw the same woman who was in the store an hour earlier, still debating between which colour to buy. Just as the woman said “I’ll take the blue”, I said “I’ll take it too”, and we all laughed.
I haven’t regretted buying this blue stunner for a moment. The colour is just gorgeous, and the size is perfect for day or night. I’ve decided to sell a few of my other handbags to justify the purchase, which in my head, means the bag was free! My Dad keeps telling me that’s not really how it works, but hey, a little pretend never hurt anyone.
I’m curious, do you own any designer handbags? Do you put a lot of research into them or are they more of an impulse purchase? Do you only buy them for milestone occasions, or do you buy them just to treat yourself? Do you save for a while knowing you will purchase a designer bag once you’ve saved enough, or it is more of a “buy it when I feel like it” kind of thing?

Some of you may have seen on Instagram that I’m currently in Scottsdale, Arizona. I’m pretty lucky that my work sent me here to take a marketing course. Justin has never been to Arizona, so he tagged along with me, and while I’m stuck in a meeting room all day, he’s sipping margaritas by the pool and enjoying the desert air. Okay, I can’t complain. . . we tacked on a few extra days to the trip so I could enjoy the beautiful weather and sightseeing too. I’ll share some pics soon.
I also want to mention that I had the honour of being featured in Framework Magazine’s April Blogger Panel. Framework is a fabulous online magazine dedicated to the essential elements of stylish living. Thanks Framework!

Yesterday was the Toronto Blue Jays home opener game. For you non-sports fans, the Blue Jays are Toronto’s Major League Baseball team. Even though I’m not really a baseball fan, Justin is a huge Jays fanatic, so we end up watching a lot of baseball in our house. Well . . . Justin watches a lot of baseball while I usually take that time to read fashion magazines.
Justin was heading to the home opener last night, and decided to create a baseball themed dinner for us and his friend. On the menu were “franks and beans” along with a yummy macaroni salad, but where the fun part comes in is that we also decided to have a blind hot dog taste challenge. The two opponents were the Schneider’s Juicy Jumbos versus the Chicago 58 Lanky Frankys. We tested them both plain and fully dressed with condiments in a bun. To make it fair, we also filled out our own secret ballots so not to influence one another. I know you’re all on the edge of your seats waiting to find out which wiener won. . .well, it was a clean sweep. . .the Juicy Jumbos swept both categories, and were hands down our favourites. We’ve now decided to make the hot dog challenge an annual tradition, and next year the Juicy Jumbo’s will go head to head with another challenger. (I know. . . my life is pretty exciting. *Sigh*)
Now that I’ve bored you all with my hot dog story, we can chat a little bit about fashion. I had my eye on this Danier leather skirt for a while, and finally picked it up when it went on sale. I just love the black and white contrast, the faux-wrap, and the buttery soft leather.
In other exciting news, I am so honored to be featured on Style Elixir as Lauren’s Head Stylist for her Style Sessions fashion link up this week. Please check it out, and also feel free to join the link up yourself!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Did you do anything exciting? Mine was pretty low key, but my favourite part of this past weekend was the beginning of Daylight Savings Time. Yay!! The start of DST means that Spring and Summer are on their way, bringing with them sunshine and warm temps. It will be especially nice to get home from work tonight and actually have the sun still shining (although it’s raining right now, so fingers crossed that the sun will be out). I am so ready for Winter to be over!
