Funny story about when I purchased this Chanel blue beauty . . . if you follow on Instagram, you may have seen that I purchased it was when I was in Chicago last month during Easter. I usually only splurge on designer bags when I’m celebrating a milestone in my life, for example my very first bonus, a promotion at work, or my first birthday in seven years without a boyfriend (my 26th b-day, also a Chanel). Well, I threw my rules out the window when I saw this vibrant cobalt blue bag at the Chanel store. I saw it sitting on the shelf, and I fell instantly in love. I tried it on, but left the store empty handed because I didn’t want to make an impulse purchase on something so expensive. I usually put a lot of time and thought into my big purchases.
One hour later, I found myself walking back into the Chanel store. I couldn’t stop thinking about this bag! The sales associate greeted me by my name, and I felt a little embarrassed because I was hoping she wouldn’t remember me. Another woman was trying on my bag, so I patiently waited my turn. She was debating between the cobalt colour and the same bag in white. I tried on the bag but this time I filled it with all of my purse contents to make sure it would fit my essentials. However, once again, I left the store empty handed.
Another hour later, my thoughts consumed with this handbag, I was walking into the Chanel store for the 3rd time that day! I smiled when I saw the same woman who was in the store an hour earlier, still debating between which colour to buy. Just as the woman said “I’ll take the blue”, I said “I’ll take it too”, and we all laughed.
I haven’t regretted buying this blue stunner for a moment. The colour is just gorgeous, and the size is perfect for day or night. I’ve decided to sell a few of my other handbags to justify the purchase, which in my head, means the bag was free! My Dad keeps telling me that’s not really how it works, but hey, a little pretend never hurt anyone.
I’m curious, do you own any designer handbags? Do you put a lot of research into them or are they more of an impulse purchase? Do you only buy them for milestone occasions, or do you buy them just to treat yourself? Do you save for a while knowing you will purchase a designer bag once you’ve saved enough, or it is more of a “buy it when I feel like it” kind of thing?

DIY Shoe Bows

Pretty heels with bows are a huge trend right now. Just about every shoe brand has their own version in stores as we speak. I bought the cutest pair from Nine West (seen here) and I’m really loving this Steven by Steve Madden version as well. I was hesitant to buy too many pairs of bow pumps because I’m not sure if it’s a style that I will continue to love in the next few years. So, when I was browsing through Michael’s, my favourite store for craft inspiration, and I came across these adorable over-sized bow hair accessories, I immediately started to think of ways that I could attach these to a pair of shoes.
Okay, technically this is a DIY because I did “do-it myself”, however, this has to be the most simple DIY ever. All I did was take the pre-made bows and use my trusty Scotch Double Sided Tape to affix them to the shoes. . . done. . . super simple. . .easy peasy! I spent some time trying to find the perfect clip to attach the bows to my shoes, similar to embellished shoe clips you can buy already made, however I was concerned that the clips would leave indentations on my shoes. I opted for the Scotch Double Sided Tape because “I put that s*&% on everything!” (Quick…first person to name the company who uses that slogan gets brownie points!) Seriously though, I use Scotch tape on all types of fabrics, including silk. The thought did pop into my mind that it might damage the patent leather, however, they were stuck securely in place all day, and were easily removed at night without the slightest mark left on the shoes.
The best part of this temporary DIY is that I can reuse the bows for other things as well. I purchased the matching clips and I think I will next try to clip them to a pair of turquoise leather gloves for a cute, girly look. Another option is to make your own bows, however, unless you have a ribbon cutter, the ends may start to fray. I have a ribbon cutter on my wish list for the next time I have a coupon for Michael’s.
I hope everyone is having a great week so far, and I want to give all of you a huge cyber hug and thank you for your incredible support!

Happy Monday everyone! Today is a pretty exciting day for me. . .tonight I will be attending my very first fashion show, ever. Toronto’s World Mastercard Fashion Week begins today and runs until Friday. I’ve dreamed of attending a fashion show for as long as I can remember, and I’m giddy with anticipation for this evening. I’ll be attending several spectacular shows over the next week including Joe Fresh, Mackage, Rudsak, Vawk, Lucian Matis and Pink Tartan.
Just as exciting as attending the shows, I’m also looking forward to meeting several other Toronto Fashion Bloggers for the first time in person. Connecting with other women who love fashion as much as I do was one of the main reasons I started blogging. I moved to Toronto six years ago this month, and have met many wonderful people since, but none that shared the same interest and passion for fashion as I do. I have a feeling that I will finally feel like I’m in my element this week, with fabulous women who, like me, live for fashion. Now, the most important question is, “What in the world am I going to wear?”.

Longer Days

Coat: J.Crew. Blouse: J.Crew. Skirt: H&M Trend. Handbag: Coach. Shoes: Boutique 9. Rings: Coach, Kate Spade. Sunglasses: Chanel.
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Did you do anything exciting? Mine was pretty low key, but my favourite part of this past weekend was the beginning of Daylight Savings Time. Yay!! The start of DST means that Spring and Summer are on their way, bringing with them sunshine and warm temps. It will be especially nice to get home from work tonight and actually have the sun still shining (although it’s raining right now, so fingers crossed that the sun will be out). I am so ready for Winter to be over!
