Crazy Love for. . .Kate Spade New York Fall 2013

Oh Kate Spade, you’ve done it again. . .or should I say, oh (Creative Director) Deborah Lloyd, you’ve once again created a collection that has the perfect combination of girly-ness, quirkiness and colour. 1970′s New York City was the inspiration for the Kate Spade New York Ready to Wear Fall 2013 collection. I love how they describe the colour palette of these pieces on the Kate Spade blog as “NYC Citron, Empire Beige, Asphalt, Maraschino, Shocking Pink and Disco Purple”.
Since I’m currently giving away the Kate Spade ‘Things I Love’ Book on the blog, I thought I would continue with the theme and show you my 9 favourite looks above from the collection. I could see myself wearing every outfit shown above from head-to-toe. I also love so many of the pieces in the remainder of the collection below. Which look is your favourite?
The Kate Spade Spring 2013 collection also knocked my socks off, and is currently available in stores. My absolute favourite pieces from the Spring collection are this stunning pink-feathered handbag, this fun striped dress, and this vibrant plaid dress. Have you picked up any of the Spring pieces yet?

Late to the Party

Sweater: Old Navy. Skirt: H&M (old). Clutch: Coach. Collar: H&M (similar). Shoes: Boutique 9. Watch: Michael Kors. Ring: Kate Spade, H&M. Bracelets: J.Crew, Forever 21. Sunglasses: Chanel.
If you follow along on Instagram, you’ve already seen that I purchased the Coach Penny bag in this beautiful mint shade and also in sunny lemon. I’ve wanted the Penny bag for months now but I was waiting for the perfect colour to come out. Turns out Coach came out with 2 perfect colours for me, and I just had to have both.
I wore this outfit to another baby shower this past weekend, and yes, while I was late (as usual) arriving to the event, I was also late to another party. . .the MINT party. But hey, better late than never, right? Surprisingly, I didn’t make any mint purchases last Spring when it was the colour of the season, but as soon as I saw this cozy Old Navy sweater on their website, I new I had to have it in this stunning pastel. Am I the only one who was late to jump on the mint bandwagon?

This Is The Year…

Sweater, Jeans and Fur Collar: H&M. Boots: Aldo. Handbag: Balenciaga. Rings: Coach, Kate Spade. Watch: Michael Kors. Sunglasses: Chanel.
This is the year. . . to get healthy. Well. . .for me to get healthy. In past years I’ve set New Year’s resolutions only to lose sight (i.e. ditch them) by the third week in January. I’ve always looked at them as something I had to do instead of something I wanted to do, but this year my outlook is much more positive and focused.
Getting fit and healthy is a pretty typical resolution on everyone and their mother’s list, but my wardrobe is actually begging me to shed a few pounds. You see, I’m wearing the cape sweater in these photos for two reasons: 1. because it’s super comfy, cozy and warm, and 2. to hide the extra 12 lbs I’ve put on since the summer. Now I know some of you are probably rolling your eyes while others have just dropped their jaws. I’m in NO WAY saying that I’m overweight. However, 12 extra pounds on someone my height and frame is significant…so much so that about half of my wardrobe no longer fits me. I’m always wearing the same super stretchy H&M jeans because the 11 other pairs in my closet can’t make it up past my hips. I haven’t worn any of my pencil skirts or slim fitting dresses in months, and even these lace pants I bought only 2 months ago are too tight, which leaves me with NOT ONE pair of dress pants that fit. But the piece I’m most upset about not being able to squeeze into is this tropical print skirt. . .it’s just too pretty to be not worn!
Although my motives are mostly vain (yes, I will admit that), I’m also actually really out of shape. I can’t do a push up and I get winded after climbing 1 flight of stairs (no, I’m not joking). As I get older and my metabolism slows, I’m quickly realizing that if I don’t change my “sit-on-the-couch-eat-everything-in-sight” habits, that 12 extra pounds will soon turn into 20, then 25 and so on. Hopefully putting this goal into writing and sharing it with you will keep me disciplined, focused and accountable. You’ll know I’ve reached my goal once you see me wearing that pretty tropical skirt again.
So, today is Day 1 and this is The Year. The year I will get healthy. The year I will set a goal, and see it through until achievement. The year to be happy, proactive and positive. What is this year for you? Did you set any New Year’s resolutions? Do you have a similar goal to mine?

Holiday Par-tay

Coat and Dress: French Connection (both old). Gloves: H&M (new). Clutch: Balenciaga (similar). Shoes: Kate Spade. Earrings: Swarovski.
My girl Amy (from Leopard and Lillies) and I teamed up to showcase some outfit options for New Year’s Eve. Hers a little more casual, mine a little more dressy, but both flashing the NYE must-have sparkle. This is the outfit I wore to a Christmas Party last week, but I would definitely wear this again for New Year’s IF I had somewhere fun to be. This year, I’ll be ringing in the New Year on my couch with my Man, a pint of Haagen Dazs Pralines & Cream, and a (hopefully) good movie. What are your NYE plans?
Be sure to check out more pics of Amy’s gorgeous look at her blog Leopard and Lillies.
