I’m so excited to be guest posting today over at Kira’s blog, Northern Style Exposure.  If you’re already a fan of Kira’s, then I know you’ll agree with me when I say that she is the queen of layering and print mixing.  If you haven’t checked her out yet, definitely head over and you too will fall in love with her amazing accessories and her really cool photography effects.  Oh, and she has one of the best Instagram accounts in town!

Rule Breaker

Over the years I have learned what particular styles, colours and fabrications look good on my body type, and which ones rarely flatter my shape.  This H&M mint eyelet skirt and peplum top break 2 of my “avoid at all costs” rules: 1. Stay away from satin, especially across my thighs, and 2. No skirt lengths below the bottom of my knee. I was so obsessed with the other trends in these pieces (mint, peplum and eyelet) that I had to try them on, even though I knew it was going to end in utter disappointment.  Shockingly, they didn’t look half bad.  What are some of your “do not buy” rules?
