Fuchsia and Bordeaux

Coat: J.Crew. Blouse: J.Crew. Skirt: J.Crew. Clutch: Henri Bendel. Shoes: Joan & David. Rings: Coach, Kate Spade. Necklace: BCBG. Sunglasses: Chanel.
I’m taking a short break from my Fashion Week posts to share this outfit and guest post I’m doing today for the super sweet Tash at her blog, Style-Isle, while she is on vacation. I must confess that styling this burgundy skirt with this bright pink coat was not my idea. I copied this combination from a J.Crew ad. . . the very same ad where I first laid my eyes on this beautiful fuschia coat. I already owned the skirt, but I knew that once I bought this coat I would definitely pair them together.
Speaking of a vacay, I’m pretty excited to be heading to Chicago this long weekend with my family for a few days of fun, great shopping and delicious food. Heading to the Windy City for Easter has become a tradition for our family, minus my brother. A weekend of shopping is not exactly what he considers to be “fun”. Oh, boys. . . what do they know!? I’m also looking forward to indulging in what I think is the best cheesecake out there, after my Mom’s of course. I think I’ve tried nearly every flavour of cheesecake on The Cheesecake Factory’s menu, my favourite’s being the Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cheesecake and the Lemon Raspberry Cream. . . yummmm!
Today, I’m also linking up with the fabulous Lauren at her blog Style Elixir, for her Style Sessions series. Thank you to both Tash and Lauren for allowing me to share my looks on your blogs!

Toronto Fashion Week: Winter White and Pink Tartan

Sweater: Club Monaco. Skirt: H&M. Shoes: Nine West (U.S. link) (Canadian link). Clutch: Marc Jacobs. Belt, Necklace and Bracelets: BCBG. Rings: Coach. Sunglasses: Chanel.
Toronto’s fashion elite were out in full force last week for the World Mastercard Fashion Week. This was my first time attending Fashion Week, and what a week it was. I will admit that it was not as glamorous as I had imagined, however, I felt like I was in fashion heaven the entire time. It was so thrilling to be around so many stylish people who share my same love for fashion. The most exciting part was getting to meet and spend time with many other Toronto bloggers…women I now feel like I can call my friends.
This winter white ensemble was what I wore to the first day of Fashion Week. Oh, it was freezing outside, but I was determined to not wear tights with any of my outfits. If there is a time to suffer for fashion, I would say that Fashion Week is definitely that time.
Over the next week, I will share with you what I wore each day for the shows, and also some of my favourite pieces from the most impressive collections on the runways. My favourite show in terms of wear-ability was definitely Pink Tartan. Created by Kimberly Newport-Mimran, (wife to Joe Mimran, founder of Club Monaco and Joe Fresh), this collection was full of retro lady-like luxury. I can honestly say that I would wear almost every piece that came down the runway. My favourite look was the first piece that kicked off the show. . .the gorgeous floral print swing coat shown below. I could see myself wearing this coat year round and feeling uber-glamorous no matter what I was wearing it with.

Blueberry

Blouse: J.Crew. Skirt: ASOS. Shoes: Boutique 9. Ring: Stella & Dot Odette Ring. Necklace: via The Bay. Sunglasses: Chanel.
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. This may give you a little Monday morning chuckle, but doesn’t this outfit remind you of the scene in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” when Violet Beauregarde turns into a giant blueberry?! I felt really great wearing this all-blue look, but I couldn’t help but think of that movie. As a child, it both fascinated and terrified me. I so badly wanted to visit his chocolate factory, but Willy Wonka and his little Oompa Loompa’s were just so scary! Were you a fan of that movie? Did you want to drink the Fizzy Lifting drink and taste the snozzberry wallpaper as much as I did?

My Loves

Coat: H&M. Top: Zara. Jeans: H&M. Necklace: BCBG. Boots: Aldo. Handbag: Chanel. Ring: BCBG. Sunglasses: Chanel.
I have worn this exact outfit, from head to toe, at least a 10 times in the last few weeks. This is my go-to outfit every time I leave the house for anything other than work (I actually did wear this to work but swapped out the boots for heels). It includes all of my current loves:
- my new Chanel sunglasses with pretty purple lenses
- my H&M blanket coat that strangers have actually stopped me to pet because they say it looks so soft
- my Zara sweater with a faux leather front panel that is the perfect mix of dressy and casual
- a statement necklace which always makes me feel extra girly
- my beloved Chanel bag which I’m pretty sure I will pass down in my will one day
- my Aldo cowboy boots I bought last year for a trip to Nashville which make me feel cooler than I really am
