Today I’m sharing a look that I’ve already worn head-to-toe 4 times in the month of September . . . first in NYC with Gaby (as seen in the last photo above), second to work, third to a store event and fourth to dinner.  When I find something that works and that I feel great in, I’ll wear it to death.

The print on this dress slightly confused me at first because I couldn’t really figure out what it was, but I quickly decided that I thought it was really pretty and unique.  Plus, the dress fits like a glove, so I just couldn’t leave the store without it.

It’s funny how our personal style changes over the years.  Several years ago, I wouldn’t have been caught dead in skinny jeans.  I’m a curvy girl, and after trying on a couple of pairs of skinnies, I quickly decided that the shape and cut did not flatter my figure.  I was “anti-skinny”.  Fast forward a few years to 2010, and it was nearly impossible to find anything but skinny jeans in stores.  Flares and boot cuts were hard to find, and somehow felt dated.  I had no choice but to conquer my “skinny” fear and squeeze my lady curves into another pair of skinnies.

I soon realized that depending on the brand, cut of the top half of the jeans and the weight of the denim, that skinnies could actually flatter my curvy shape.  Fast forward a few more years to 2013, and now I feel that skinnies are the style that flatter my figure the most!  Go figure.

I’m especially loving my Old Navy skinnies, and find that their cuts and shapes look really great on women with curves.  Plus, the price is awesome!  All of Old Navy’s skinny jeans are currently on sale until October 2, with prices starting at only $19!  Crazy!  They have so many fabulous prints, colours and textures.  I was immediately drawn to this fabulous floral pair I’m wearing, and I just love the subtle blue-on-blue print.

Please note this post was sponsored by Old Navy, however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.  I personally selected the merchandise I’m wearing and featuring.  I only partner with brands that I firmly believe in, that represent my personal style and that I would fully recommend.

PSA: Back Up Your Computer Today

Crazy Style Love, Canadian Fashion Blog

I’m taking a (forced) break from my NYC posts to delivery a public service announcement.  If you haven’t done so in the last couple of months, I strongly urge you to stop what you are doing and back up your computer immediately.

My laptop has crashed twice in the last week, but last night it died a quick, painless death.  The hard drive needs to be replaced, rendering it useless.  My local Apple “Geniuses” are not available until Thursday night, which means that I’ll be going through some major computer withdrawals over the next few days.

I’ll try to keep this short and sweet.  This is how my nightmare went down:  I told myself to back up my computer before I left for vacay.  Of course, I didn’t.  Computer crashes while in NYC.  Apple “Geniuses” tell me they have to wipe the computer clean and I will lose everything.  I tell them I’ve never backed it up.  I will lose a year of photos, documents and memories.  I’m devastated.  Gaby is consoling and a good friend.  I call Justin, in tears.  My super smart and sweet Man tells me to get my computer back from the so-called “Geniuses” and he will try to fix it.  I go 4 days without a computer.  I notice symptoms of withdrawal.  I arrive back in Toronto, and my super smart and sweet Man spends NINE HOURS trying to recover my info.  He does.  Justin is my hero.  I back up my computer. Last night my computer crashes again.  This time my super smart and sweet Man can’t fix it.  At least I have a back up.

Whew, that was a mouthful. Lesson to be learned . . . technology can be unreliable,  and unless you have a super smart and sweet Man to come to your rescue, back up your computer today.  You never know when you may have technical issues, and it will save you a lot of time, trouble and tears.  Please learn from my mistakes so you don’t have to make your own.
