A Sad Goodbye

Wednesday, October 3, 2012 158 0

Top: Joe Fresh. Dress (worn as skirt): Club Monaco (similar skirt here and dress here). Clutch: Balenciaga. Shoes: J.Crew. Necklace: Forever 21. Rings: H&M, BCBG. Sunglasses: Chanel.

Saying a sad good bye to:

1. Summer Whites:  I’m a huge winter white fan, but I think this fabulous Club Monaco dress is just too light weight for colder months.

2. Sandals:  With major temperature drops forecasted for this weekend in Toronto, this is probably the last time my tootsies will be free.

3. Sunlight:  Daylight hours are getting shorter and shorter.  I just made it home in time to snap these photos before the sun completely set.  Not quite sure how I’m going to take photos during the winter darkness.  Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Awww..I’m sad about those things too. So I think you’ll get a chuckle out of this. I’ve been invited to a white party in OCTOBER. Am I crazy for thinking this was probably not a good idea? I’m all about wearing winter white, but ALL white? Would love your ideas on what you would wear to such party. Regarding the sun going down, I usually take my pictures in the morning right before the sun comes out (yeah, I’m an early riser). Hopefully that works for you. Great outfit by the way 🙂

Ha ha ha, an all white party actually sounds kind of fun! 🙂 Oohhh, but I have no idea what I would wear! 🙂 I think for that type of party, you probably don’t have to worry about being weather/seasonally appropriate. Typically my style, I would probably wear a white full skirt (similar to the one above), a white sweater or turtleneck and a huge sparkly statement necklace. I hope you’ll post your outfit! Would love to see it!

I definitely second taking photos on the weekends, and I saw your comment about matching your nail polish!! So funny 🙂 It’s so tough to find time to take photos in the winter months. I used to feel like I was cheating to do weekend photos, but the clothes are always things I’ve worn in the previous week or will be wearing the next week. I never take fake outfit photos.

    • Jenny
      October 4, 2012

I totally agree, somehow it feels like cheating, but it totally makes sense to do. I too would never take fake outfit photos. I don’t really see the point actually. Why would you own clothes or outfits that you wouldn’t wear in real life?! I usually take some time on weekends to plan my outfits for the week anyways, so what I should do is just go outside an take a pic as I’m trying it on. I’ll definitely try that!

How fun is that top and how about those shoes?! I am with you on saying goodbye… to the sunlight and the warmth! But, it is time.. still balmy, muggy and humid here… ready to enjoy Fall and move through winter ASAP!

Aww, thank you so much Whitley! It seems so strange to me that other people still have beautiful summer weather! I’m so jealous! 🙂

Sorry to hear that you will be putting away some of your more summery clothes. I will keeping them out much longer – it’s still upper 80s here!

My husband takes my pictures in the morning before heading to work. I feel uncomfortable asking a co-worker to take my picture and I work out after work so morning is my only chance. I can’t imagine changing my outfits to take the pictures on the weekend – it just seems too much work.

BTW, I love those shoes! and you look fab as always!

You are so, so lucky Alice. It’s already dark in the morning when I leave for work, plus my Man is still sleeping. Ha ha, I could only imagine his response if I woke him up to go take my photo. 🙂 It does seem like so much work to take multiple photos on weekends, but I’m thinking it’s my only option at this point. Oh well, I guess I’ll see how it goes!

I love this look – especially the jacket! i’ve been patiently waiting for Zara to restock my size so I can make this purchase. Just curious does the jacket fit true to size?

    • Jenny
      October 4, 2012

Thanks so much Dani! Do you mean the Zara camo jacket? Yes, it fits true to size, but a tad on the small side. If you want to wear heavy sweaters, I would go up a size. I usually wear an XS in Zara tops, and an XS or S in Zara jackets and blazers. I purchased a S in this jacket. The XS fit, but was tight along the arms. Hope that helps!

I’d be sad saying goodbye to those sandals…the texture is super fun, and I love that vintage inspired shape. Maybe you can still work them in with some ankle socks?

Ahhh, those heels!!! I love those heels and was to chicken sh!*t to get them, even when they were on sale! I kept thinking they would go down more and more, then they were gone. Maybe a popback one day! Love this look, especially your necklace:) xo

Ha ha ha, I HATE when that happens!! I got really lucky and got them on sale for about $75!! It sounds like a lot, but the original price was almost $300! Thanks so much Kristi!

Thanks so much for the suggestion! Unfortunately, I only work with 5 other people, and I’m not ready for any of them to know about the blog. I’ve talked to them about fashion blogging before, and some of them think it’s really silly. Booo….. 🙁
