Crazy Love for . . . Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke

Friday, May 24, 2013 30 0

Here’s a little musical treat to start your Friday off right!

I don’t usually share my musical preferences on the blog because it would only consist of songs from the best 3 decades of music, the 50’s, 60’s and 80’s. (I know this statement will cause some serious debate but I’m sticking to it!)  However, I have had the song Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke in my head for 3 weeks now.  The word “obsessed” is definitely over used by most now a days, but I’m actually obsessed with this song.  It literally haunts me in my dreams . . . I dreamt that Robin Thicke was following me around all day singing this song to me, while I was brushing my teeth, driving to work, eating lunch, doing the dishes, etc. (weird!)  I love this song!

But, for some reason, I always call Robin by his father’s name, Alan.  I even typed “Alan” in my post title and realized just before I hit publish.  Perhaps, it’s because I’m an 80’s baby, and grew up watching Growing Pains with Alan Thicke.  Musical talent runs in their family though.  Fun fact. . . Alan Thicke wrote the theme songs to 2 majorly popular t.v. shows, Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life.  Pull that little factoid out in a conversation, and people will be impressed, I assure you.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

I love Robin Thicke. Man alive. Love. If ‘When I Get You Alone’ comes on the iPod when I’m in the car I just keep replaying it over and over again.

Coincidence – my husbands name is Robin, his middle name is Alan as his Dad’s name is Alan. Both not very common at all these days but I guess in the 70s Alan’s loved to name their sons Robin!

Ha ha ha, too funny! Those names were definitely popular back in the day. I think it’s hard NOT to like Robin Thicke. 🙂

My son just got into a private school in Los Angeles (pre school, and then K-6) anyway at the open house for applicant parents, I was right next to Robin Thicke. His wife was there too. Funny, we went into the music classroom and the teacher had no idea who he was and he had to tell her he is a musician. Any seemed like a nice guy and pretty low key – other than being easily recognized. And he’s on the tall side. I am 5’9″ so I notice when guys are taller than me 🙂 http://www.not-going-out-like-that.com

I am also in LOVE with this song! So good! And so funny about the Alan thing – sometimes I can’t handle watching this video because I picture it being Alan Thicke instead of Robin and it weirds me out! Yay for being 80’s babies & watching Growing Pains! (Do you remember the episode when the made a film about a beach party & an alligator in the toilet? For some reason that gave me weird dreams for ages as a kid!)

I love this, too and play it all the time. Reminds me of old Marvin Gaye songs. And Robin is hilarious on Real Husbands of Hollywood.
    His voice is so dreamy.

Hilarious – but I will use that factoid in conversation now 😉 Will have to keep my ears open for this song. I am bad I only listen to the radio in the car so that is the extent of my musical knowledge.

Ha ha ha, I’m the same way. I have a 30 – 40 minute commute to work, and then back home, so I listen to a LOT of the radio. 🙂
