Top: H&M. Skirt: Topshop (old but really LOVE this one too). Shoes: Nine West. Rings: Coach, ASOS.
A handful of you might remember my post in early January where I stated my New Year’s resolution was to get healthy and one day fit back into this mirrored floral print Topshop skirt. Well, 7 months later, and with a lot of ups and downs, I finally fit back into it . . .sort of. It’s still a little snug, but in another month, it will hopefully fit like a glove.
I won’t bore you with the details, but I must say that diets do NOT work for me. I lose the weight then gain it right back. In April, we had a little health scare in my family which forced Justin and I to cut out all chemicals, processed and packaged foods. It’s been surprisingly easy, and I don’t feel like I’m on a diet because it really has been a change in lifestyle. We still eat pretty much everything we want, but we both find that our tastes have changed considerably. We don’t crave sweets and junk food nearly as much. When we do want a treat or something a little more indulgent, we try to find healthier versions of all of our favorites. Here are a few examples:
1. Instead of buying chemical filled Jiffy or Skippy peanut butter, we buy organic peanut butter made only from peanuts (no additives), then add our own sea salt and raw sugar.
2. Instead of buying preservative-filled jam, we make peanut butter and jam sandwiches with peanut butter, fresh strawberries and a little honey. Trust me, it’s the best PB&J sandwich you’ll ever eat.
3. Instead of buying granola with a ton of added sugars and chemicals, we buy granola sweetened with maple syrup.
4. Instead of buying ice cream which has a shocking amount of added chemicals, we buy Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss Ice Cream made from coconut milk. You must try the chocolate peanut butter flavor! We’re addicted!
If any of you are thinking about cutting out chemicals and processed/packaged foods from your diet, I highly recommend you do your research and give it a try. It’s much easier than you think, and your body will love you for it. Please feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment if you have any questions at all, and I’ll do my best to help!
I’d love to know, have any of you cut chemicals and processed/packaged foods out of your diet? How has it worked out for you? Do you have any tips and tricks you could share?
