The Perfect Snowy Day Outfit

Coat: Canada Goose (also here). Hat: Kate Spade. Sweater: Topshop. Jeans: 7FAM via eLuxe. Gloves: ASOS. Boots: Sorel.

This is the outfit I wish I was wearing today.  When it comes to dressing for the cold weather here in Toronto, you would think that I would have it down pat by now.  Far from it.  With the freezing cold temps we’ve been experiencing, and are going to continue to experience for at least a few more weeks, there are several items that I wish I had purchased at the beginning of the winter season.

Prime example is a super warm Canada Goose coat.  Hard to find this time of year because all of those prepared people out there already purchased the entire stock, Canada Goose coats are the ultimate when it comes to warmth and style.  Another of those super-warm, super-stylish pieces?  Sorel boots.  Nowhere to be found in my size, but so wishing I had these on my feet.

Big City Style: eLuxe Spring Lookbook

Words can’t express how much I love blogging.  I can’t imagine my life without it, and I never could have imagined the lovely people that I would meet, the awesome opportunities that would come my way, and the wonderful experiences I would have.

One such “wonderful experience” happened a couple of weeks ago when eLuxe, Canada’s online source for designer fashion, asked 9 Toronto bloggers to style and model for their 2014 Spring Lookbook.  Shockingly, yours truly was included!  The experience was both thrilling and terrifying.  I’ve never modeled for a professional photographer before, so I’m looking a little stiff and nervous in my photo, but the entire experience was so amazing, and the people I had the opportunity to work with were just stellar.

Here are a few behind the scenes photos from the shoot, and be sure to check out the entire eLuxe Spring 2014 Lookbook.

The amazing team at Aveda took on the task of getting us all dolled up.  Kristjan Hayden worked his magic with my glamorous make-up and Benn Hutchinson had the challenge of giving me movie-star hair.

For my outfit, I chose this sweet yet elegant Rebecca Taylor dress, paired with this white ELA leather clutch.  I added my own sparkly jewels and pink pumps to complete this feminine look that felt totally my style.

Our photographer, Vincent Lions, was just amazing.  He made me feel as comfortable as I possibly could in front of the camera, and made the experience slightly less terrifying.

A major bonus was that I got to experience this fabulous day with my girl Gaby (from The Vault Files) who was also selected to style and model for the lookbook.  Doesn’t she look just gorgeous!  Thank you to Gaby for the behind-the-scenes photos of me and the pretty Aveda make-up shots.

A huge thank you goes out to eLuxe for including little ole’ me with such an amazing group of women, for making me look “pretty” for my photo, and for providing me with an experience of a life-time.

Winter Uniform

Coat: Rudsak (old but love this parka version). Headband: Honey (similar here in tons of colors!). Jeans: 7FAM. Boots: Aldo (old). Sunglasses: Gucci. Lipstick: MAC “Girl About Town”Bag: Balenciaga.

When I’m strolling through the City or running errands, this is my typical winter uniform: a pretty headband or hat, a warm coat, jeans (with leggings underneath) and tall boots.  Living in Downtown Toronto means I walk a lot, so keeping warm while trying to stay somewhat fashionable is key.

One winter item that I consistently get compliments on from strangers on the street is this gorgeous headband.  I have it in 3 colours (black, white and purple), and finally found an online retailer who carries it (in several colours), Poppy and Dot.  It’s definitely a winter statement piece.
