One of A Kind Show Toronto

I can’t believe I’ve lived in Toronto for more than 7 years, and this past Wednesday was my first time attending the One of A Kind Show.  It’s essentially a huge craft show (but so much more!), showcasing products by over 450 artisans.  Everything at the show is handmade in North America by Canadian and/or American artists, and let me tell you, I was so impressed!  The creativity and craftsmanship by every single vendor was inspiring.  If you’re in the Toronto area this weekend, the One of A Kind Show is at the Direct Energy Centre from now until Sunday.

I just had to share with you a few of my favorite vendors from the show.  Some of these products are available to purchase online, but some sadly were only available at the show and/or are touring to other craft shows.  What I love the most about the One of A Kind Show is that it gives local artisans the opportunity to present their products to a large audience.  It supports our local talent, and wow, there is a lot of it out there!  I was most impressed with the quality of the products, but also the packaging and marketing.  There were so many items I would have purchased just because the packaging was adorable!  I’m a sucker for good marketing.

How adorable is this strawberry mug from Greg Voisin Pottery?!  Each ceramic piece is handmade in his home studio, and his “handrawn images are meant to warm your heart as much as they are meant to warm your leftovers.”  How cute is that?!  Find him at Booth G23.

I am completely obsessed with LOVEFRESH.  At Booth G37 you’ll find this homemade complete line of all natural, non-toxic and highly effective body care products.  Stacy Davis, the founder, was at the booth and I instantly fell in love with her bubbly personality and her passion for her products.  I took home the hand lotion and all natural deodorant, and the scents are amazing.  It makes me so happy and proud to be able to support such a fantastic local brand.  Speaking of branding, the LOVEFRESH packaging is just so pretty too.

You’ll find many beautiful jewellery vendors at the One of A Kind Show, but MoonRox was one of my favorites (located at Booth Q12).  These rings are just stunning.

At first glance at the Botania display at Booth H08, I thought these were real cupcakes!  Nope, it’s soap!  They have an adorable collection of these cupcake soaps, along with fabulous smelling, home made sea salts and shea butters.

There was no way I was leaving the show without buying these adorable mini cookies.  It just wasn’t going to happen.  These little ice-cream cuties are from iBakery, located in the Etsy section.

This way too adorable donut is actually a soap made by demosoap.  Located at Booth M52, demosoap has the prettiest smelling soaps I’ve ever smelled…ever.  They have the cutest shapes too, including fortune cookies, cupcakes and macarons.

Tricia O has a fabulous collection of modern retro style prints and chic paper goods.  Find these pretty prints at Booth F3.

A product that I was really excited to find was C is For Clean, an all purpose cleaner that can be used on all surfaces (except for marble), and is all natural, made with no toxins, no dyes, no bhp, no petroleum by-products, no harm to the environment, and no nasty chemicals PERIOD!  This product, made in the founder’s own kitchen, can be found at Booth N15.

One last pic, showing the accessories I wore to the Show and a pretty floral bench (that I’m hoping not too many people saw me stand on to capture this photo).

This is just a small selection of the hundreds of amazing vendors at the One of A Kind Show in Toronto.  There were also a ton of DELICIOUS food artisans including Mary Macleod’s Shortbread, The Bean Ladies, Lighthouse Lemonade, and Coach House Shortbread . . . all are a must-try!   If you have the opportunity to attend the One of A Kind Show, I highly recommend it.

Powder Blue

Skirt: 424 Fifth. Top: 424 Fifth (c/o). Shoes: Zara. Necklace: Ily Couture (c/o). Handbag: Coach. Sunglasses: Gucci.

It’s official.  My favorite color for Spring 2014 is powder blue.  I just can’t get enough.  It’s a soft pastel, but doesn’t feel overly girly.  Lucky for me, I think it’s also everyone else’s fave color for Spring, so there is a lot of this beautiful hue in stores right now.

I couldn’t hit “add to cart” fast enough when I saw this stunning baby blue 424 Fifth birdcage skirt online.  The satin fabric feels luxurious, and the bell shape is dramatic.  A perfect pairing for these fabulous Zara heels I picked up a few weeks ago.  A match made in powder blue heaven.

Spring Forward

Coat: ASOS. Top: Joe Fresh. Pants: Banana Republic (c/o). Shoes: Boutique 9. Handbag: Coach. Watch: Michael KorsSunglasses: Gucci.

I’ve made the decision to spring forward with Spring, and leave Winter far, far behind, regardless of the weather temperatures.  Okay, I say this now and I’ll probably change my tune at the first sight of a snowflake in the sky, but, I am moving ahead with bringing out the bright colors, flouncy skirts and colorful florals from my wardrobe.

I was recently offered the chance to try out the new Sloan collection from Banana Republic, and I immediately went for these gorgeous turquoise slim ankle pants.  FYI, they have the perfect amount of stretch to them, keep their shape with multiple wears, the fabric is rich, and they fit like a glove.  If you can’t tell, I love them!  Highly recommended.  But back to my “vow of Spring”.  My first instinct was to pair these pants with a black and white striped top, black pumps and a black handbag.  I’m sure I will wear that outfit later on, but I’m so ready for color, so I went all out and wore as many brights as possible.  I felt cheery, colorful and had a spring in my step (pun intended).
