Girls Night In with Palm Bay

Monday, September 12, 2016 4 0

I was recently interviewed for a magazine article, and one of the questions I was asked was, “When are you the happiest?”. Without hesitation, I answered, “When I’m with my loved ones.” Nothing brings me more joy in life than being with my family and friends. I’ll use any excuse to get together with my friends, so when Palm Bay asked me if I wanted to host a “Girls Night In” with my girls, I yelled “Sign me up!”.

We’re in the middle of redecorating our condo, sans designer, so I bribed my lovely gal pals, Victoria and Gaby, with some delicious apps, sweet treats, and yummy Palm Bay, to come on over for some girl time, in exchange for their fashionable opinions on how to decorate our place (decorating posts to come to the blog soon!). Haha, obviously, I didn’t really need to bribe them, but we’ll use any excuse to get together.

The yummy tropical flavour of Palm Bay’s new Pomegranate Hibiscus Cocktail inspired me to add a little tropical flair to our Girls Night In. Easy-to-make appetizers, fun music, and a bring-me-back-to-my-childhood ice cream bar rounded out our memorable afternoon.

36 Hours in Victoria, British Columbia

The Fairmont Empress, Victoria, British Columbia

Happy August, my friends! Wow, this year is flying by! Last weekend, I had the pleasure of traveling to Vancouver, British Columbia for a photoshoot with a brand that I’ve partnered with to be their newest Ambassador (but I’ll share more fun details about that in the upcoming weeks!). Justin tagged along, and we decided to spend 36 hours in the picturesque town of Victoria, located on Vancouver Island, 3 hours from downtown Vancouver.

When we were doing our hotel research, we came across stunning photos of the Fairmont Empress hotel located on the gorgeous inner harbour of Victoria, and immediately knew that was where we had to stay. With its turn of the century architecture and majestic beauty, we couldn’t help but feel like royalty while staying at this beautiful resort. In addition to the architecture and view, the hotel grounds were beautifully landscaped, with breathtaking florals around every corner (stay tuned for more pics in an outfit post this week!).

The interior of the hotel is absolutely beautiful, and has this girly floral carpet running throughout the entire space and long hallways.

Definitely one of our highlights of not only this vacation, but our entire year, was partaking in Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Empress. Everyone we talked to before we left for the trip said we just had to go for Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont! So, of course, we did!

A time honoured tradition in their world renowned tea lobby, the Fairmont Empress serves hand-made signature Empress scones, delectable pastries and tea sweets. Our waiter taught us that in England, the traditional way to enjoy tea service is to actually start with the sweets, then move on to the scones, and lastly enjoy the tea sandwiches; the reverse of what North American’s are accustomed to. The experience was so wonderful, relaxing and delicious! I highly recommend enjoying their Afternoon Tea if you have the pleasure of visiting Victoria.

After our Afternoon Tea, Justin and I walked around the Victoria downtown and inner harbour, stopping for fresh lemonade to cool us down on the most gorgeous warm Summer day.

As the sun began to set, we were both mesmerized by the awe-inspiring pink and purple sky. It felt almost too beautiful to be real.

Victoria British Columbia Sunset

We took in the breathtaking sunset from our dinner table located at The Veranda restaurant at the Fairmont Empress. The Veranda serves a farm-to-table menu, featuring the most deliciously fresh seafood. We indulged on a seafood platter, full of the freshest crab legs, oysters, tuna, salmon and shrimp….so yummy!

The lights and views of the harbour are just as stunning after the sun sets. Below is the illuminated British Columbia Legislature Building, and the stunning Fairmont Empress after dark.

Even though our trip to Victoria was brief, we left more relaxed than we’ve been in a really long time. I wasn’t able to take photos, but Justin and I also spent an hour at the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Empress. Justin opted for a relaxing massage, and I indulged in a luxurious facial. The experience was so amazing, and my skin was thanking me for days. 😉

I hope you enjoyed this little travel diary. Some of you may have seen on Instagram that Justin and I are getting married this weekend. We’ll be heading to Washington, DC for a little mini-moon getaway, and I’ll definitely be sharing some pics from that trip too. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

One-Minute Miracle Beauty Products 2015

Tuesday, March 3, 2015 8 0

Each year, the editors of The Kit, test thousands of lotions and liners, masks and mousses, and shadows and serums. And each year, they have the challenging task of creating a list of their top 27 time-saving, game-changing, multi-tasking beauty products that work in 60 seconds or less, and provide “miraculous” results. This year’s “One-Minute Miracle” winners are divided into 3 categories: Game Changers, Impact Makers, and Multi-Taskers.

I’m always on the search for high quality beauty products that deliver “miraculous” and fast results. The Kit sent me a ‘kit’ with 15 of this year’s winning products. I tested out all 15, and selected my top 5 favourite beauty miracles that I now can’t live without. Side note: I also posted my top 5 products from their 2014 list if you want to check out that post for more beauty miracles.

1. Sephora Collection Eye Makeup Remover Wipes. Put a product in a towelette or travel-friendly form, and you’ve automatically peaked my interest. By the end of the day, my eyelids gets really oily, which then starts to fall into my eyes and burn immediately. Wherever I am, it’s time to remove my eye makeup. These wipes are perfect for my purse, at my desk, or in my car. They actually remove all of my makeup without leaving my eyes feeling tight or dry.

2. Benefit Puff Off! Some of you may know that I recently started working for Benefit Cosmetics in Digital Marketing. One of the awesome job perks is that I’ve been able to test out their entire product collection. I have a list of some absolutely amazing products (that I’ll share in another post) but for right now, I’m excited to include Puff Off in my top picks. It’s definitely a little miracle worker for saying bye-bye to puffy eyes. The adorable iron tip is cooling to the touch, and the pinky formula leaves a gorgeous glow. It tightens and and brightens the under eye like nobodies business.

3. Sally Hansen Gel Shine 3D Topcoat. I always have polish on my nails. And by ‘always’, I mean always. You will never find me without polish, so I’m always looking for a long-lasting formula that won’t chip. The glossier, the better. This 3d Top Coat by Sally Hansen adds the high shine of a gel manicure without the removal commitment, and helps extend the length of my mani.

4. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older, or just becoming more of a baby when it comes to cold weather, but this Winter feels extra frigid and dry compared to past years. My skin has been in desperate need of moisture for the last several months, and this facial moisturizer by Kiehl’s has been its savior. I love the creamy but not sticky texture, and it actually moisturizes my skin without making me break out.

5. Kaia Juicy Bamboo Cleansing Cloths. These super-soft, citrus-scented cleansing cloths not only smell delicious and feel soft on my delicate face, but they actually completely remove makeup and dirt, without leaving my skin feeling dry and tight.
