Hi Everyone! Earlier this week, I hit up Yorkdale to pull my favourite Fall finds to help shoppers get inspired for their Fall wardrobes! I’m so excited to partner with Yorkdale for the next few months to fill you in on what’s in store!

First up is a shopping event called Style By Night, which will kick off the Fall shopping season TODAY, on the official first day of Fall! I’ll be at Yorkdale tonight (Sept. 22) from 6-10pm (in the West Atrium, near Harry Rosen) showcasing all of my style picks, and of course, doing a little shopping of my own.

These photos show just a few of the fabulous Fall pieces I found at Yorkdale. The floral Ted Baker coat is definitely on my shopping list, as is the Anthro denim jacket and Club Monaco heels.

Tons of retailers will be holding exclusive offers from 6-10pm tonight, including $44 denim and 30% off at Gap, gift with purchase for the first 50 customers at Lululemon, and an 10% off all sale at Holt Renfrew, just to name a few. Some of their newest retailers opening in October in the expansion wing will also have pop-up booths on-site so you can get a taste of their upcoming Yorkdale locations. Nordstrom will be doing lip and makeup touch-ups, Nadege will be serving delicious desserts, and NYX will have an interactive photobooth. It will definitely be a fun night! I hope you can all stop by and say hi! I can’t wait to meet you!

What to Wear: Summer Concert Edition

Thursday, June 16, 2016 0 3

How to Dress for a Concert
If you follow along on Snapchat (@crazystylelove) or Instagram, you may have seen last month that I joined 53,000 fans at the Rogers Centre to see the Queen herself, Beyonce, on her Formation World Tour. Let me tell you, this was one of THE BEST concerts I’ve ever been to. Beyonce was absolutely flawless….her voice, her dancing, her songs, the performance, the back-up dancers, the special effects….all F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S!

This was definitely one of life’s unforgettable moments that I was able to experience because I’m an American Express CardMember. Amex’s entertainment program, American Express Invites, opens the door to memorable offers and experiences, which includes everything from advanced tickets sales for the hottest concerts, advance screenings for blockbuster movies and live theatre shows, to unique dining experiences. I’ve been using Amex’s Front of the Line Advance Access to purchase concert tickets for years, and it has helped me score tickets to tons of shows that would have been sold out by the time general tickets were available. A few weeks ago, I purchased Guns N’ Roses tickets for my husband, which is was dying to see! It will definitely be an unforgettable moment for him and his friends that I’m so thankful I could give him, thanks to Amex, #AmexAccess.

Amex takes the stress out of buying concert tickets, but, I promise you, there was NO lack of stress when it came to deciding what to wear! I’ve attended too many concerts to count in my lifetime, yet I struggle with what to wear every single time. #whoswithme?!?! I’ve picked up a few tips over the years when it comes to concert attire that I thought I would share, hopefully to make your next concert outfit decision making a little bit easier.

Summer Concert Wardrobe Tips

  1. Wear comfortable shoes! Flats are always my #1 choice, but I admire those lovely ladies who can rock sky-high heels and not be crawling on all fours by the end of the night because their feet are throbbing! Think twice about open-toed shoes as well, depending on the size of the concert, and where your seats are. If you’re in general admission, you’ll want to protect your pretty toes from getting trampled on.
  2. Opt for a small, cross body bag. Leave the big tote at home, and go hands-free with a lightweight bag. You’ll love the convenience of being able to hold a drink in one hand, and your camera in the other, without having to worry about where to put your handbag.
  3. Dress in light layers. Indoor concerts tend to be more humid in the Summer, so it can get pretty warm when you’re dancing around with tens of thousands of other people. Light layers allow you to remove a layer, and tie it around your bag or waist without feeling bulky. Outdoor concerts can also start off warm when the sun is shining, but can cool down when the sun sets.
  4. Don’t forget the sunscreen (for outdoor concerts). The sun is our best friend, and our worst enemy. I’ve actually burned my shoulders in as little as 15 minutes of direct sun exposure. Be sure to protect your beautiful skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

Below are 5 outfit options. depending on the type of concert you’re attending and the type of mood you’re in that day. These are actually the outfits I considered wearing to the Beyonce concert, and I ended up going with the white button down, denim skirt and Converse. I wanted to keep it casual, but cute.

Kate Spade Striped Melly Sunglasses via IRIS the Visual Group  //  Old Navy tassel tank top  //  Old Navy pants (similar from ASOS) //  Nine West white pumps  //  Elie Tahari coat (old) //  Chanel Easy caviar bag  //  Kate Spade night lounge rings

I’m usually pretty classic when it comes to sunglasses frames, as I tend to buy investment sunnies that will remain classics for years. Think tortoise shell, aviators, black, silver, cat eye, etc. It’s only recently that I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and experimented with colour and prints.

One of my favourite brands for classic frames with a playful twist is Kate Spade, available at IRIS the Visual Group. She’s the queen of fun elements like colour, glitter, patterns and embellishments. When I tried on these black and white striped sunglasses, I immediately felt playful, confident, and a wee bit sassy. They add that perfect classic-yet-trendy, cool-girl, splash-of-fun to any simple outfit. Plus, I received like 4 compliments on the subway, so that’s a pretty big confidence boost right there.
