YSL New Mascara collection colors

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been working in the beauty industry (in marketing) for over a year and half now. Just before I joined the industry, I fell into a bit of a beauty rut. I was using the same products for years and years, and didn’t seem to have the motivation to try anything new.

Moving in to the beauty industry seemed to spark a fire that I thought had nearly fizzled out. I gained a renewed love for makeup, I stepped up my makeup game (hello, contouring and strobing!!), I now love experimenting with new products, and I’m always trying to find the best products on the market. Beauty has become a big part of my life, and I’m going to start sharing more of my fave beauty finds with you here on the blog, and of course Snapchat (crazystylelove) and Instagram!

Today, I’m super excited to share one of my newest fave makeup finds…the new Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Mascara Vinyl Couture! YSL Beauté recently launched this stunning collection of revolutionary mascaras in 9 fiery colours, including 2 sparkly top-coats. They have an intense and super shiny formula that gives lashes length, volume, and curl, with deep, saturated colour.

I was given 5 of the gorgeous shades to try, and as you can see above, the pigment of the colours is intense and beautiful. With 9 powerful shades, you can style a new lash look every day and every night. 😉 What I love the most about the colours is that even though they are so vivid, they are totally wearable during the day with a more natural makeup look, and of course, for night when you want the power to play with bold looks.

I don’t need to say too much about the packaging, as it clearly speaks for itself. Dressed up like a lip gloss, the clear, see-through bottle defies convention and is fiercely beautiful.

One of my favourite colours in the collection is N° 7, I’m The Craze – an intense violet that is super wearable for day or night. It’s a bit difficult to see, but I’m wearing I’m the Craze in all of these photos. My eyelids are also hooded, making it extra difficult to see my lashes, but I’m hoping you can see just enough to see how fabulous this mascara looks.

The vinyl formula results in a smooth, shiny texture. The wand evenly coats the surface of your lashes, adding smooth volume in just one coat. My biggest pet-peeve with mascara is clumping, and there was not one clump in-sight with these mascaras! Completely clump free! It also lasted all day long on my oily eyelids, with no transfer at all. I found it easy to remove as well, which is a huge bonus. A huge surprise was that it actually also added a lot of curl to my lashes!

I absolutely love this mascara, and can’t wait to experiment with different colour combinations. This is definitely a new staple in my makeup bag!

What to Wear: Summer Concert Edition

Thursday, June 16, 2016 0 3

How to Dress for a Concert
If you follow along on Snapchat (@crazystylelove) or Instagram, you may have seen last month that I joined 53,000 fans at the Rogers Centre to see the Queen herself, Beyonce, on her Formation World Tour. Let me tell you, this was one of THE BEST concerts I’ve ever been to. Beyonce was absolutely flawless….her voice, her dancing, her songs, the performance, the back-up dancers, the special effects….all F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S!

This was definitely one of life’s unforgettable moments that I was able to experience because I’m an American Express CardMember. Amex’s entertainment program, American Express Invites, opens the door to memorable offers and experiences, which includes everything from advanced tickets sales for the hottest concerts, advance screenings for blockbuster movies and live theatre shows, to unique dining experiences. I’ve been using Amex’s Front of the Line Advance Access to purchase concert tickets for years, and it has helped me score tickets to tons of shows that would have been sold out by the time general tickets were available. A few weeks ago, I purchased Guns N’ Roses tickets for my husband, which is was dying to see! It will definitely be an unforgettable moment for him and his friends that I’m so thankful I could give him, thanks to Amex, #AmexAccess.

Amex takes the stress out of buying concert tickets, but, I promise you, there was NO lack of stress when it came to deciding what to wear! I’ve attended too many concerts to count in my lifetime, yet I struggle with what to wear every single time. #whoswithme?!?! I’ve picked up a few tips over the years when it comes to concert attire that I thought I would share, hopefully to make your next concert outfit decision making a little bit easier.

Summer Concert Wardrobe Tips

  1. Wear comfortable shoes! Flats are always my #1 choice, but I admire those lovely ladies who can rock sky-high heels and not be crawling on all fours by the end of the night because their feet are throbbing! Think twice about open-toed shoes as well, depending on the size of the concert, and where your seats are. If you’re in general admission, you’ll want to protect your pretty toes from getting trampled on.
  2. Opt for a small, cross body bag. Leave the big tote at home, and go hands-free with a lightweight bag. You’ll love the convenience of being able to hold a drink in one hand, and your camera in the other, without having to worry about where to put your handbag.
  3. Dress in light layers. Indoor concerts tend to be more humid in the Summer, so it can get pretty warm when you’re dancing around with tens of thousands of other people. Light layers allow you to remove a layer, and tie it around your bag or waist without feeling bulky. Outdoor concerts can also start off warm when the sun is shining, but can cool down when the sun sets.
  4. Don’t forget the sunscreen (for outdoor concerts). The sun is our best friend, and our worst enemy. I’ve actually burned my shoulders in as little as 15 minutes of direct sun exposure. Be sure to protect your beautiful skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

Below are 5 outfit options. depending on the type of concert you’re attending and the type of mood you’re in that day. These are actually the outfits I considered wearing to the Beyonce concert, and I ended up going with the white button down, denim skirt and Converse. I wanted to keep it casual, but cute.

I’m usually pretty classic when it comes to sunglasses frames, as I tend to buy investment sunnies that will remain classics for years. Think tortoise shell, aviators, black, silver, cat eye, etc. It’s only recently that I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and experimented with colour and prints.

One of my favourite brands for classic frames with a playful twist is Kate Spade, available at IRIS the Visual Group. She’s the queen of fun elements like colour, glitter, patterns and embellishments. When I tried on these black and white striped sunglasses, I immediately felt playful, confident, and a wee bit sassy. They add that perfect classic-yet-trendy, cool-girl, splash-of-fun to any simple outfit. Plus, I received like 4 compliments on the subway, so that’s a pretty big confidence boost right there.
