Earlier this week, I shared a sneak peek into our bedroom (hope you enjoyed it!), and today, I’m super excited to feature some progress photos of our tiny dining space. And by “tiny”, I mean “TINY”! This wall with our table is only 6.5′ long, and it’s in the open space of our living room. We can literally only fit 2 chairs (I pull out 2 more folding ballroom chairs when we have guests), and the table had to be a max width of 36″ (tough to find)! This white IKEA table in the photos is temporary, until our marble tulip table arrives in December (that was a nightmare story that I’ll fill you in at a later time)! #cantwait

In my bedroom, the element I was most excited for was my Chasing Paper speckle wallpaper. In this space, this gorgeous Gray Malin photograph wins hands down for bringing me the most joy everyday (although I’m pretty thrilled with my chairs too). I’ve wanted a Gray Malin photo for years, and I’m completely OBSESSED with his work. For months, I would literally visit his website almost every day trying to choose which photo I wanted for our space. I finally narrowed it down to this stunning “Almafi Sunbathers“, and the really playful “Skinny Dip” Flamingo photo. Justin really didn’t have any opinions on how we decorated our condo (his only requirement was that it was “livable”), but I asked his opinion on this photography because I really couldn’t decide. He chose the Amalfi Sunbathers, so that was the winner!

This photograph is definitely a statement piece in our living space, and one I’ll know that I’ll cherish for many, many years to come. If you haven’t seen Gray’s work, definitely check out his website ASAP! You’ll fall crazy in love at first glance. And…he just posted a Black Friday sale, where you can save 30% off all photography with code TURKEY30 until Monday! This is his biggest sale of the year, so if you are debating buying a photo, NOW is definitely the time!! I’m also strongly considering purchasing one of his small sized (11.5″x17″) photographs for our picture ledge gallery above our sofa, but as always, I’m struggling to narrow down my top choice. I’ll definitely share it will you once I purchase it!

If you’re obsessed with Gray’s photography, also be sure to check out his book, “Beaches“. I literally purchased it the day it was released. I’ll often sit down with a glass of wine, flip through all of the stunning pages, and dream of being on one of those sandy beaches, sipping sangria and soaking in the sun. #summerdreaming

My second favorite element of our dining nook is definitely our turquoise and gold chairs. As soon as I saw these, I was smitten. I knew I wanted to reupholster them in either a peacock/teal blue or a cheetah print. Again, I asked Justin, who was leaning towards the turquoise, so that’s what we went with. You may have seen my sad story about these chairs on Instagram. Long story short, I had them reupholstered, and they came back with a big scratch down one side, and stinking of smoke. The awful smell has finally disappeared, and I’ve filled in the scratches with a gold leafing pen, but wow, it was stressful!

Once our new table arrives, this little space will be complete. I hope you enjoyed this look into dining nook, and I’ll be sharing a peek into our living area later next week! As always, thank you so much for following along!!

Bedroom Decor Sneak Peek

Bedroom Decor Inspiration, Ikea Hack Dresser My Overlays

I’m super excited to share a little sneak peek into our bedroom redecorating! It will probably be a month or two before it’s fully complete, but I wanted to share some of the sources, in case they sell out.

By far, the element of the room that I’m most excited for is the wallpaper. I decorated the entire room around this gorgeous black and white dalmation print. I searched and searched for the ideal paper for months, and finally came across the perfect one from Chasing Paper. My jaw dropped when I saw it, and I knew this was “the one”. We rent our condo, so temporary paper was a must, and Chasing Paper has the most gorgeous collection of peel-and-stick wallpapers.

My friends who have seen these photos have all asked how easy the paper was to install. Well, overall, it was incredibly easy. The paper comes in 2’x4′ sticker sheets, and you literally peel and stick it to the wall. The first sheet was very tricky for me to install. I had to remove and reapply like 30 times. However, by the 2nd sheet, it seemed to have magically gotten easier. And by the 3rd sheet (and for all of the rest), I applied them perfectly on my first try. They are really easy to install. It was just a matter of learning the technique. The paper has really transformed the room, and I couldn’t be happier.

I installed the paper on one wall in our bedroom. I put our dresser in front of the wall for these photos, however, once our bed arrives, I will put the bed in front of this focal wall. Speaking of our dresser….

….I did a little IKEA hack for our dresser (which I will be replicating on our nightstands). I found this website, called O’verlays, which makes trim for IKEA furniture. It was super easy to glue onto the IKEA Hemnes dresser drawers. I added some brass CB2 hexagon knobs, and voilà!

I picked up all of the art from Minted, and these will most likely end up on the picture ledges we installed over our living room sofa. I also immediately fell in love with the beautiful shade of turquoise in our rug from RugsUSA. I purchased almost all of our rugs from RugsUSA, as the prices and selection can’t be beat. If you live in Canada, Rugs.ca also has some great rugs and fantastic prices.

I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek into our bedroom. Later this week, I’ll be posting our dining nook, and early next week, I’ll share a portion of our living room. After 4 long months of decorating and making more decisions than I can count, it’s all finally starting to come together!

The Best Berry Moscow Mule Recipe

Lily & Val Moscow Mule Print

Ingredients for a Berry Moscow Mule

Mixed Berry Moscow Mule Recipe

Justin and I fell in love with Moscow Mules this past Summer. I’m not going to lie, I was first drawn to this drink because it’s traditionally served in a copper mug, and who doesn’t want to drink out of a cute copper mug?! If you haven’t tried one yet, I highly suggest you try this light and refreshing drink asap! I actually got the recipe from this beautiful Lily and Val print I picked up last year. And because I love berries on everything, I added a delicious twist with some muddled berries.

Fun fact…did you know that Ginger Beer is not actually beer?!?! Well, I didn’t! I went to the liquor store and asked for Ginger Beer, and they told me it’s non-alcoholic, and can be purchased at the grocery store (our grocery stores in Ontario don’t sell alcohol). So, if you want to make a non-alcoholic Moscow Mule mocktail, all you have to do is swap out the Vodka for Club Soda. So delish either way!

Ingredients:

Vodka 37.5 ml (or Club Soda for a non-alcoholic version)

Ginger Beer

Lime Juice 25 ml

Mixed Berries

Ice

Recipe:

  1. Pour 37.5 ml of Vodka over ice
  2. Add 25 ml freshly squeezed lime juice
  3. Muddle berries and add to mug
  4. Top with Ginger Beer until cup is full
  5. Stir and add berries for garnish
