Stripes, stripes and more stripes. Stripes are such a classic and easy print to pair with almost every pattern and color. I used to be scared of horizontal stripes because “they” say that horizontal stripes make you look wider. Well, whoever “they” are, “they” are wrong. I’ve since learned that it’s actually about the fit and cut of the clothing rather than the direction of the stripes. I know that vertical stripes are supposed to elongate your body, however I actually find horizontal stripes to be much more flattering most of the time.
To add a little bit of fun to this post, I’ve partnered with two extra fabulous Canadian ladies to showcase how we each wear stripes for three different occasions. The super stylish Kira from Northern Style Exposure is highlighting casual stripes, the always gorgeous Eleni from Convey the Moment is wearing stripes for date night, and I’m wearing stripes for the office. Definitely check out these two wonderful women over on their blogs.
This striped Club Monaco jacket is one of my favorite items in my wardrobe. Sadly it’s old, but 424 Fifth currently has a very similar version on sale available at Hudson’s Bay or Lord & Taylor. It seems to look good with everything, and adds that perfect finishing touch to an outfit. I’ve also worn it with sneakers for a casual look, with a chartreuse dress for work, and a white dress for a date night.
