Dress: Ann Taylor. Belt: Anthropologie (love this one too). Shoes: Jimmy Choo. Sunglasses: Gucci. Rings: The Bay.

A simple sheath can be a career woman’s best friend.  Always office appropriate, this flattering style of dress can easily take you from day to night.  Not one to shy away from colour, my first instinct was to pair this cheery chartreuse hue with a bold blue pop of colour.  However, this dress looks just as fabulous with a nude pair of heels (as shown in a previous post).

For those of you young women starting out in your careers, I highly recommend purchasing a similar style dress in a quality fabric.  It’s a timeless style that you will have in your wardrobe for many years.  My dress is from Ann Taylor which is a great source for day-to-night clothing.  The simple cut also allows you to play with accessories. Here I paired it with an Anthropologie jeweled ribbon belt, but I think next time I’ll wear it with a beautiful statement necklace.  I have my eye on the Nebula lucite necklace from Bauble Bar which I think will look just perfect with this dress.

Skirt: 7 For All Mankind. Top: Zara. Shoes: Jimmy Choo. Sunglasses: Gucci. Rings: Stella & Dot, BCBG. Handbag: Chanel.

I’ve worn this exact outfit from head to toe about 5 times in the last 3 weeks, including to the Drake General Store Pop Up opening I posted the other day.  It’s a very simple look, but there’s something about it that makes me feel effortless and chic.  For me, it’s usually more about how an outfit makes me feel rather than what it actually looks like.

The Zara top I’m wearing has tiny gold buttons down the back, adding a cute, unexpected detail.  Of course I forgot to photograph the rear view, but you can see it in my past post “Shake Your Tail Feather“.

Happy Monday everyone!  Here’s a outfit that I wore out to dinner with Justin last week.  I’m not really a “shorts” girl, but these Milly for Banana Republic shorts caught my eye instantly and I knew I couldn’t leave the store without them in hand.  The pretty print and bright colours work perfectly for a more dressed up look.

Speaking of perfect, Beth from Seersucker & Saddles is also showcasing a dressy shorts look below.  I’ve been reading Beth’s blog almost since she started it, and I was immediately drawn to her preppy, polished style.  Plus, we both share a major love for colour.  If you haven’t already done so, you absolutely must check out Seersucker & Saddles.  I know you’ll love Beth’s style just as much as I do.
