36 Hours in Victoria, British Columbia

The Fairmont Empress, Victoria, British Columbia

Happy August, my friends! Wow, this year is flying by! Last weekend, I had the pleasure of traveling to Vancouver, British Columbia for a photoshoot with a brand that I’ve partnered with to be their newest Ambassador (but I’ll share more fun details about that in the upcoming weeks!). Justin tagged along, and we decided to spend 36 hours in the picturesque town of Victoria, located on Vancouver Island, 3 hours from downtown Vancouver.

When we were doing our hotel research, we came across stunning photos of the Fairmont Empress hotel located on the gorgeous inner harbour of Victoria, and immediately knew that was where we had to stay. With its turn of the century architecture and majestic beauty, we couldn’t help but feel like royalty while staying at this beautiful resort. In addition to the architecture and view, the hotel grounds were beautifully landscaped, with breathtaking florals around every corner (stay tuned for more pics in an outfit post this week!).

The interior of the hotel is absolutely beautiful, and has this girly floral carpet running throughout the entire space and long hallways.

Definitely one of our highlights of not only this vacation, but our entire year, was partaking in Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Empress. Everyone we talked to before we left for the trip said we just had to go for Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont! So, of course, we did!

A time honoured tradition in their world renowned tea lobby, the Fairmont Empress serves hand-made signature Empress scones, delectable pastries and tea sweets. Our waiter taught us that in England, the traditional way to enjoy tea service is to actually start with the sweets, then move on to the scones, and lastly enjoy the tea sandwiches; the reverse of what North American’s are accustomed to. The experience was so wonderful, relaxing and delicious! I highly recommend enjoying their Afternoon Tea if you have the pleasure of visiting Victoria.

After our Afternoon Tea, Justin and I walked around the Victoria downtown and inner harbour, stopping for fresh lemonade to cool us down on the most gorgeous warm Summer day.

As the sun began to set, we were both mesmerized by the awe-inspiring pink and purple sky. It felt almost too beautiful to be real.

We took in the breathtaking sunset from our dinner table located at The Veranda restaurant at the Fairmont Empress. The Veranda serves a farm-to-table menu, featuring the most deliciously fresh seafood. We indulged on a seafood platter, full of the freshest crab legs, oysters, tuna, salmon and shrimp….so yummy!

The lights and views of the harbour are just as stunning after the sun sets. Below is the illuminated British Columbia Legislature Building, and the stunning Fairmont Empress after dark.

Even though our trip to Victoria was brief, we left more relaxed than we’ve been in a really long time. I wasn’t able to take photos, but Justin and I also spent an hour at the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Empress. Justin opted for a relaxing massage, and I indulged in a luxurious facial. The experience was so amazing, and my skin was thanking me for days. 😉

I hope you enjoyed this little travel diary. Some of you may have seen on Instagram that Justin and I are getting married this weekend. We’ll be heading to Washington, DC for a little mini-moon getaway, and I’ll definitely be sharing some pics from that trip too. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

New York City Photos from Crazy Style Love

A pretty postcard from the cutest paper store, Kate’s Paperie.

I recently realized that I hadn’t yet shared photos of my September trip to New York City, so here they are!  Gaby and I had such a wonderful visit to the Big Apple, and I really can’t wait to go back.  These photos showcase some of the highlights of our trip.  I had way too many cupcake photos to share, so those will be coming in another post.  I hope you enjoy!

I didn’t think I liked croissants until I ate the Brie, Fig and Walnut Stuffed Croissant from Tisserie . . . delicious!

Eataly is one of my fave spots to eat and visit in the City.  Think restaurant meets food court meets grocery store.

What better place to purchase my first Diptyque candle than in the Diptyque store itself.

Here are the last few photos from our Arizona trip that I wanted to share.  Well, I should say that these are the only photos that I can share because these are the only photos we took.  Neither Justin nor I ever remember to bring the camera with us, and when we do remember, we usually forget to use it.  Plus, Justin hates his photo being taken even more than I do, so you will probably notice that I’m the subject of most of the photos.

The first few pictures were taken at the Grand Canyon.  Our photos really do not capture the beauty and the magnitude of this natural wonder.  Visitors to the Grand Canyon have the option of driving, taking a shuttle or walking from viewpoint to viewpoint, so Justin and I took that opportunity to get in a little exercise, walking between most of the lookout spots.  Our walks were surprisingly serene and relaxing because we only passed a handful of other tourists on these trails all day.  There was something so serene and magical about just the two of us walking along the side of the Grand Canyon, with no one else in sight, feeling like we were the only two people in the world at that moment.  I will never forget how peaceful and stress-free I felt that day.

On our way back to Scottsdale from the Grand Canyon, we drove through Sedona.  Most of the drive was down hill on winding roads through the mountains.  Breathtaking is the only word to describe the scenery.  The photos above were taken in a little shopping area in Sedona that featured works and sculptures by local artists.  Sedona was simply stunning, and it felt like we were in a little town in Mexico, not in the United States.

Our trip to Arizona was so wonderful and memorable.  Looking back at these photos, feelings of relaxation and happiness instantly sweep over me, which is exactly what I need on this Monday morning to start my work week on a high note.  I hope you all are having a great start to your week too!
